Best A-2 goatskin I've seen so far anywhere.

I've had, handled, worn, photographed and owned many WWII jackets, but the new SMW goatskin A-2 is the best I've seen. Needless to say it has all the dead-on details that you would expect from SMW and fits like a glove. But the quality of the leather is it's best attribute. They say they only pick 25 out of every 100 skins they examine and I believe them. Can't help that. I'm a professional copywriter and photographer. But that doesn't mean what I wrote about this particular jacket isn't true. I handle and shoot 100s of products but this is the only one I have put up on this thread. Although, I have to admit there are others I feel as strongly about, like SMWs USMC "Pacifiic" HBTs and camos, and their new USN deck jackets.

Well, sorry but what you have written reads like the standard hokey copy you might read on a website. It doesn't read like a spontaneous customer providing some feedback. Could be that's just years of writing bad habits coming out by accident. I've got to ask: you here to influence the Lounge?

Problem for me is it has the opposite effect. When I think people are being disingenuous with me I won't engage with what they are selling, even if I had been interested.

Let me try one:

I didn't post the above ATF and SMW ads on this forum. They were screen captured completely out of context from my Facebook business page and put here to impune my opinion. My earlier statement about deck jackets was refering to SMW's new N-1 and their 1st model blue jacket NOT the ATF deck jacket above. I photographed Navy deck jackets for both ATF and SMW and SMW's is clearly the most authentic. I know because I actually had one when I was in the Navy (albeit in very poor condition) when I served in the mid 60s. So you ask if I am trying to influence this forum, I can only say that I am adding my opinion to the forum. My experience as a seasoned adman, journalist and combat veteran.

You may well be a nice guy, so please take this just as constructive feedback and not as a scathing attack, although I can't control how you take things.

Your first post was clumsy - more so given what has come out since. Maybe if you had provided better information about your context rather than a mere few words of "I handle and shoot..." Coming on big about a product's wondrous status in somewhat dead advertising language is bound to raise eyebrows and get us speculating about context. You sounded a series of false notes that seemed pretty funny.

I'm sorry you didn't have a laugh along with us and you might well have bonded with us over this. I am more than happy for you to start again without prejudice and maybe you can tell us more about why suddenly you seek to elevate Macca's work which I am a fan of already.

I cannot believe that someone has used the term 'wanker' on here. In fact, scratch that comment about A-2s and just think for a second on 'wanker'.

Handling and shooting products is probably of less use than actual fit pics when making claims about quality. The same could, presumably, be said of onanism.

Fit shots are by no means a qualitative discription of fit. Fit can easilly be enhansed by using good body models. (Actually, I prefer shooting model shots in good lifestyle situations) but this category of apparel vendors rarely spend the money to achieve that level of production value. Detail shots are the most practical and affordable way of showing product attributes.
