Although I agree with some of Miss Neecerie's points. I will add that it is a testament to what a great product they offer(ed), and their great customer service that they have a fantastic group of ladies concerned of their potential (but not yet corroberated) "going out of business."

From my point of view... it is the community of us who purchase their products who give them their support and feedback. And as part of that community, you can't blame us for our responses (albeit a bit emotional in part).

A business cannot succeed without the customer. I for one wish, that if the rumours were true about their potential 'going out of business' that there were something that we all could do as a community to prevent that from happening.

I don't know. It just plain sucks that a good company like that would have to disappear for ever. It just plain sucks.

SWEDEN or DENMARK?

Any swedes or danes reading this? Any of you thinking of buying Besame products now that their prices are so low? I would like to purchase an eyeshadow for $10, but am not willing to pay the shipping cost of $35! Unfortunately my other order's already been shipped :( So I thougt maybe we could share a package / the shipping costs. Let me know before they run out of the shade!

Ummm, this is strange...

Okay, I don't know if we are allowed to post youtube links, so I will simply say, there are two very strange, short videos on youtube from "besamegirl" that were posted a month ago, starring Gabriela Hernandez. (There is a third one from 9 months ago that is more, shall we say, normal?)

What in the Heck is going on? LOL! It seems like she has become quite cynical about cosmetics, don't you think?

I think it's a shame too! But, they did just get a small write up in the back of Lucky Magazine for April. That's not a bad thing.

Are you referring to the two Beauty Detective Teasers? They don't seem too strange to me...they look like ads for maybe a show or "shorts" on how makeup used to be created, and that if we watch Beauty Detective we can learn more about it.

Yes, but it seems like she is being very cynical and sarcastic about the so-called "all-natural" movement in cosmetics. That beet one is hilarious, and so true! The one with the soot "eyeliner" made me think of my sister's family: her in-laws are Indians who are very traditional Hindus, and when her son was born, they performed a ritual in which they rubbed olive oil soot into his poor little eyes! She didn't know it was coming, and was quite pissed! Poor kid! He had a blocked tear duct for months after that. All that is "natural" is not good, LOL!

I suppose I see it as...they have told us that certain products are being cleared out to let them focus on what they want.

Thats what they want us to know at this point. It's their call as a company what to tell us.

Its not a publicly owned utility, they don't owe anyone any explanation of their plans.

They answer to a customer who has -ordered- in terms of where that order might be, etc. and as of right now, they are fulfilling that quite well and nicely. Past that, whether they offer a particular product tomorrow is their call, and whether they offer no products tomorrow is also their call. They would only have to answer to customers if they did not fulfill orders already placed.

Anything past that is gossip and conjecture. It doesn't really -matter- what happens to them as a company in terms of the products they are discontinuing, they will not exist -either- way.

It's certainly not going to get the orders from the sale shipped any faster if they have to stop to answer the rumour patrol emails and calls. They are a small company, and I would wager the customer service girl also packs boxes....

You are right about the packaging. If I remember from the show I saw about them, Gabriela and her husband take care of all the orders straight from their home.

Some of you ladies are writing that you have stocked up, but I was wondering if you are worried about the makeup getting too old? It takes me years to use up a lipstick or a shadow because I use so many different shades, and makeup, especially mascara and shadows, get very clumpy or powdery when the date is expired, even if it isn't even opened. Maybe it is not the case with B?©same?

I don't see the lipsticks, pencils, powders, etc. going bad. Maybe the mascara, or the rose lotion. Maybe the foundation, but I think it would take awhile, it's not overly watery.

It has been proven that after a certain period(ie- mascara 1 month, blush, eyeshadow and any powder-2 months etc etc) starts to develop bacteria in it. I'm not sure how well a good seal keeps it away but, I owuld consider that when stocking up.

Edit: Ok so my dates were off. check out this website for expiration dates on make up.

fridge?

Great link, retrogirl1941. Does anyone know if it would help to keep the make-up in the fridge? Or maybe that should be avoided with certain products? I'm concerned with: the rose moisturizer (would the vitamins die?), compact powder, blush, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. I've got a powder deodorant from Lush that is not to be kept in the fridge, so I'm assuming that goes for the loose powder as well.

I'm not sure if that would help. But I think those expiration dates are for products that are being used, not for unused products. Products being used are being exposed to microbes, while unopened, unused items are not. Though, the more water (or other volatile solvent) in a product, the more likely it will dry up over time, even if not being used.

I wanna buy and stock uop as long as I can. However Ijust sended them a video-testimonial and wanna wait if I get the 100 $ coupon or not. Anyone else joined it?

I hadn't considered doing the video, but come to think of it: that is yet another very recent promotion that Besame started just before the big clearance. It seems that the winner of the contest, if there still will be one, will have a very limited choice to spend the coupon on!

That´s right, unless they really put out new products.... Anyway: I placed a order big enough to be rid of shipping-costs... If my video will be chosen that´s still extra-money to spend ;-)

Wish I had the confidence to make a video that many people would see, LOL! Hope you win, and that there will be new products for you to buy with the winnings!

I was always hoping they'd put out a cake mascara, at least as a limited edition, in a metal mascara compact like the vintage ones:

And maybe make the vanity cases (or new ones) refillable.
Sigh!

That mascara-case looks adorable!!!

I have another macara though that is still like it was in the 30s: http://www.labellanussy.com/english/classic.php

It comes in a case with a piece of paper, a little metal tube containing the paste to apply it to and a little brush that you use to put it on. And it smells like bee wax! Delicous! No cake though, but I LOVE it. It was the worlds first water-proof mascara.
