As the cliché goes, all artists wear berets...; it is interesting to see how many paintings and other art (sculptures, in fashion, etc.) actually depict berets.

These two paintings of Chasseur sized berets (above) are by the Norwegian painter Sigurd Skou (1922 and 1924, respectively).
Picasso is probably best known for his various paintings of berets, but he was not alone. Many berets, or boinas, feature in the works of Basques Ramon de Zubiaurre and Valentín de Zubiaurre Aguirrezábal (below).

Alexander Altmann was from Kyiv, Ukraine and was inspired by his surroundings to paint boineros while studying and working in Paris.

And of course, Billy Childish is well known for both wearing and depicting berets.

Sculptures of berets come in all sizes and forms, like this bronze 'Sawing Men' on the branch of a platanus tree in Amsterdam, or the massive Txapeldun in Peru-Harri (Navarra).

As for art in fashion, the beret features well in this jacket designed by French designer Castelbajac - made completely of red berets.

My plans for later today include this black beret and pipe. Interesting claim, the world’s oldest pipe makers. View attachment 426409
Nice plan, and what a lovely pipe! One of the last productions by Zenith; the factory shut shop in 1984 (after a massive fire that destroyed much of the factory).
Following my previous post of the beret in the arts, there are many (typically Old Dutch and Flemish) paintings depicting boineros wearing these clay and ceramic pipes!

Then, there were clay pipes depicting boineros too, like this Chasseur Alpin (Great War, 14-18).

or this model by an unknown artist (from the Pipe Museum in Amsterdam):

And as so often, the reality of the day was found in the labels sewn into berets:
