Yesterday afternoon was the official launch of the new Crow Berets, top quality, artist designed berets that are the result of a collaboration with artist and friend Billy Childish, the L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, Flamingo Berets and Boneteria Aotearoa.

The Billy Childish Crow comes in three diameters, varying from 26cm to 30cm. The small diameter W6000 comes only in lamp black. All are lined with a 1930's satin multi-colour lining and fitted with the Crow and Flamingo labels.
The Crow 6200 measures 28cm in diameter and, like the W400 in 30cm diameter, comes in five artist colours: Permanent Green Light, Herculean Blue, Managanese Violet, Jackdaw Grey and Raw Sienna.

All Crow berets are handmade of the finest and softest Australian Merino wool, offering superb insulation and comfort.
The berets are dyed with the blessed groundwater of Mount Aso; slow dried in sunlight and the whole manufacturing process integrated in one company, overlooking Mount Aso, the largest active volcano in Japan.

Every Crow beret comes with a heavy weight autographed postcard of a Billy Childish Crow woodcut print.

From last December after a Christmas snowfall,
the Flaminigo 400-31 exclusive.
With a headband and lined with satin fabric.
I wore for a month then washed not at Mt. Aso
but in a basin.
It turned out fine.
The 6200 and 400 with headbands are this weeks' special at SPB.
The chasis for the 6200 and 400 does double duty as a universal and with a headband and
Lined and unlined.
The new Crow berets are lined 6200 and 400 in a universal stretch to fit.

My curent most comfortable worm beret is a 400-31 universal stretch to fit.
My current indoors beret is a unlined Flamingo 6200 with a adjustable headband.



Next is an Arandu wool beret with with Andean Cross motif.
These Arnadu berets have that chilled gaucho look.
Arandu from Argentina does interesting berets.
The Arandu berets are contructed in the traditional shape of a beret
but the knit is like that of a medium weight sweater.
Indoors the Arandu are warm,
step outside into a stiff breeze and you feel it.
That might be good when exerting yourself outside,
such that you don't sweat soak your traditional Basque beret.


So, the design on the Arandu berets is significant.
There is much debate about the provence and meaning of the
Andean Cross or Chakana.
One of the earliest ruling city state in South America was Tiwanaku.
Tiwanaku was centered at Lake Titicaca.
The Tiwanaku built mounds with the tiers (cake layers)
oriented with the Andean Cross vectors.
So the design goes way back.

I love port and madeira and sherry. Fortified sweet wines are some my favorites. I’ll look for amoroso.

amoroso is great its wine and port blended, the port is awesome but only 3 glasses in a bottle

Mm - I like sherry/Jerez too! I experimented a bit with the range and I’m definitely a Crema fan. Here’s the range, wonder what kind of Jerez you like?

My second Chyldish 'Fear Naught' cotton beret arrived this week. I think it will get worn on holiday in the Isle of Wight in June, with a Chap pin added to it. Photos will, of course, follow.

What a difference a day makes. Today it’s 40 degrees warmer. I’ve worn a beret almost everyday since early February. They are so functional. I wish I would have started wearing them years ago
