Benny Goodman Docu at Netflixs

I'm just watching a terriffic documentary called "Benny Goodman : In the Kingdom of Swing." Lots of cool archival footage of LA, NY in the 30's and 40's plus interviews with great musicians and sounds with Goodman himself. It is narrated by David Strathairn. The downside is that is only an hour long.

You can rent it on Netflixs.

I just put in the mailbox to return to Netflix. After watching the whole thing I strong encourage anyone with an interest in the 30s/40s clothes, swing, or dancing to rent or buy this disc.

They used rare home videos, concert footage, soundies, movie clips and stock footage to tell BG's story. Also, interview with many of the musicians who played with him, as well as his family. They even take you to the Carneige Hall concert of 1939 and inside the recording studio to watch BG work. You also get plenty of shots of cool clothes and cars whether its BG lounging at home or teens lindy hopping or jitterbuggin to his incredible band.

Don't miss this one.

I'm a Goodman nut (hence the first part of my FL name) and I found the documentary on DVD a couple of years back for $20! It's one of my favourites and I highly recommend it too.

Don't want to depress you but now you can buy it used on Amazon.com for about $6!!! That kind of thing happens all the time to me.
