Sloan,
Personally I would visit the factory for every jacket, both I've got are definite keepers! and were exactly what I wanted, the problem is waiting until they are ready!, on the internal hems, Will told me that as well as the extra £90 when the time comes to replace the lining it is also more expensive as it is much more difficult for the machinist!
when you visit tell Will exactly what you would like and how you want the jacket to fit, listen to his advice and then hope your body does not change significantly while enduring the wait!! then when it's ready you will start planning your next!!

From my limited experience, I would certainly agree that Aero has a unique niche in the world market where one can request a custom handmade product that will likely outlast not only me but the next generation or two as well.

I agree, lets more people read them. I will delete those posts and re-sort them on a new thread. Thanks for the feedback.

Just so that I get this clear: Would Aeroleather even even make a custom G2 Raider jacket? Not that this project is anywhere in the near future, but if it ever came to it, would Aeroleather be the go-to-company?

Not sure what you have in mind. Do you mean something like a G2 without the mouton collar?
Aero made me a M422 without the mouton lining...basically an AN-J-3.

I see this discription used from time to time..but just exactly what is a G2 Raider jacket..?
HD

HD, As far as I can determine, the G2 Raider jacket was never a military issue but has a superficial resemblance to the US Navy G-1 (bi-swing back and inside wind flap) but non-standard zip-top cargo pockets with side-entry hand warmer pockets, and is made by Cockpit, San Diego Leather Company, Gibson and Barnes, and perhaps others as well. When I visited the Gibson & Barnes store in San Diego a couple of years ago, their "Raider" jacket had a rather nice cut and feel but didn't buy it and bought one of their Indy (Expedition) jackets instead.

Yes, have a look at the Gibson and Barnes Website, there you'll find one. I prefer zipper to button-closure, that's why I've got my eyes on a G2, although they are not "real" military jackets. And MacGyver wore one. :D

Looks like "G2 "Raider" jacket" looks like a designation used by G & B for one of their designs.
The jacket looks basically like G2 jacket sans mouton collar with D pockets with side entry.
I suspect Aero would be willing to do something similar. Just take their M422 jacket, take off the mouton, put on a different pocket design.
YOu can forward the link to the G&B page to Amanda at Aero and ask if they would do the same.

The G2 or Raider jacket is a bogus vintage flight jacket designed in the early 1980's by the Chevignon company. And yes, version is worn by Macgyver. I own a black goat one from G&B - nice thing. I just put Macgyver out of my mind.

I only found a 'Raider' jacket on G&B site..not called a G2..unless I'm missing something.
Found this http://www.uswings.com/g-2.asp ...on US Wings website..called a G2..but it seems to have zipperless patch pockets...
Jeff..did you mean that the G2 is like the G-1 but without the mouton collar..?
HD

I'm not seeing it called a "G2" at the G&B site either.

Meant it looks like a G1 without a mouton collar. (plus the pocket differences.)
Bi-swing back, knit sleeves/waist, storm flap, gussets.
Not sure about the sewn on belted back however. Didn't see any back pictures.
Too many "G's"
