Ah waterfall front. Scourge of the antique markets in the east. That stuff is so common in this area that at the big auction the worst condition waterfall pieces are left for the trash! A pity you don't live on the East Coast. You would have a much easier time finding that kind of furniture.

My Grandparents had a set like that. When my grandmother passed away a few years ago my wife and I inherited the set. We absolutely love it.

I have a set similar to that. My mom got it from my grandma. My grandpa bought it for his parents (my great-grandparents). Its my favorite. Currently in storage for when i move out.

Binkie, you always have the greatest deco stuff...I'm green with envy at this moment!

You know, looking at the photos given, and the pieces that are for sale, I see that most of it all is missing handles, knobs and such. Also, the vanity is missing huge chunks of veneer at the bottom. It can all be fixed! However, they are charging WAY TOO MUCH FOR THAT SET! If they want to sell it, they really should ask for less seeing it is needing lots of work. I would say make an offer if you're really feeling adventurous! It doesn't hurt to undercut some of these second hand antique gold diggers! So many people here on the west coast feel that if it’s 40s or what not, it demands a high price no matter the condition! As if it's the last piece of it on earth... I just laugh at some of these people.

At the most, considering it's only three pieces, vanity, highboy and a chair, all very shabby in condition and missing pieces, I would say this set is worth about $150. Honestly, I would totally low ball them and see what happens, heck, if they don't get any other takers (and they wont for that price) they may take your offer.

It can be fun and rewarding to restore a set of furniture, it's not easy but anything worth wile isn't ever easy! It's just not fair to pay high prices for fixer-uppers!

Good luck!

"If you are considering Restoring a Bedroom Suite the job is is huge, start with a small item such as a side table or Coffee table, restoration may become very expensive, strippers, fillers, stains, wood puty, varnish, it goes on.....its cost effective, and worth considering , purchasing a "Decent" bedroom setting with the odd "Prang" that you can live with"

Ima. Little spend thrift, I don't even like pauing that much for a new bedroom set. Althoough I may head down to the furniture outlet and see what they have.

It's a somewhat nicer than average vanity, and the chair is a plus, and it's an unusual mirror, but I think $150 would be a fair price. The missing knobs, the ruined veneer, pretty bad condition.
