Battling the Elements, or: Why I Hate St. Petersburg

I'm still not sold - Foundation can be more of a headache than it's worth in cold, windy weather. Rich moisturizers and night creams will keep your skin from getting dry and chapped, and they won't shift in the wind like foundation would. Also - and this is the big one - They won't encourage breakouts. Many women put foundation over their breakouts to cover them, when all that does is make them worse. It's a vicious cycle.

You may be right and I did not think about the possible problems with spots. I was blessed with skin that almost never breaks out; instead I continually battle the problem of irritated skin with broken veins. I learned to pamper that kind, but, very true, for some it might just not work at all.

Your right, i do that. I have not been blessed with good skin and tend to slap on the base to cover up my spots and psoriasis. It only exacerbates the problem really. But i find getting a decent concealer really hard. They tend to be too pinky or too yellow.

Concealers are difficult for lots of people. They are either too pink or too yellow on me, aswell. Lighting is also a problem because it may look perfect in one light, but stick out like a sore thumb in another. :(

Good skin doesn't come naturally to me either, but I learned how to take care of it after I started doing make-up. I've never been a fan of foundation, so it was a good thing!

Lucky you! :) Half the battle is knowing what your individual skin issues are, because then you can treat them properly.

Phew, i'm glad it's not just me then!

Unfortunately i have a light olive skin and rather uneven skin tone, so some base usually does the trick. I find the Dermablend stick applied with a brush to be the best concealer i have used for a while if i don't wear foundation. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

I think I have really nice skin, the only time I use foundation is if I have a spot right before something important (arghh!) or at an event where I know there will be lots of photos (especially if the photographer might be tipsy), to stop myself coming out shiny!
