I rarely have time to try things on in store but this Friday I had an hour open so I strolled through arguably the black hole of my wallet in NYC, Standard & Strange. My mission: figure out if I could carry a grizzly style, and what size fits across a few models of types of jackets and brands.

The RMC J24 size 38 was perfect. Easy to zip with a t-shirt and linen shirt. i did notice how easily the white horsehide gets dirt marks. Just from customers trying on the neck area was a bit like chocolate chip ice cream. But holy smokes the horse hide was so soft i had to ask if it was naked cowhide. I am talking as soft as my waxy cowhide Schott 519.

The Attractions grizzly size 40 fit like it was tailored for me. I mean wow. The black is tea core and the shearling isnt white nor yellow. Its more of this chalky off white. Very unique. The shearling isnt super baby butt soft but not coarse either.

I really wanted to love the Y2. The size 40 was a bit loose on the shoulders. Sleeves a hair too long. But they didnt have a 38 to try in NYC.

I am seriously considering a Grizzly style jacket from Attractions or Double Helix. But the RMC J24 is also very unique and I feel like I could pull off either with my wardrobe.

Please vote on your fav and share your opinion. I am in process of selling a ton of coats and trying to have a few cornerstone pieces without duplication. Ie. No Y2 Sumi dye because from 20 feet away it looks like my Schott 519.

Out of all the ones listed, RMC for sure. I think RMC sells accessory collars. Not sure if the black and white version comes with the snaps for it.

I dig all grizzly jackets, but the Japanese versions are way overpriced imo for the sheepskins. Double Helix would be my go to if Japanese brands is a must for the Grizzly. Aquaman has one.

The Y2 Sumi horsehide perfecto... The leather is really nice. But it's also a lot of money for what is basically a Schott perfecto made in a specialty leather. For the same Y2 sumi money, there are other fancy options like the Toys Mccoy Durable, it has a more taper fit than the straight Y2 fit.

Love that J24 in black and white, but the grizzly gets my vote on this one. They both look good on you, and each are definitely unique, but I think the fit and aesthetic of the grizzly looks better on you. Go with your heart, you can't go wrong with either.

(I like that carabiner.)

Thank you. Yes the black white rmc had ability for detachable shearling collar. I agree with you on the Y2. Sumi leather was special but my schott 519 fits me better and thus looks better on me than the Y2. I saw that Momoa has the double helix grizzly. That also makes me self conscious of getting a grizzly. We shall see.
I really like that 2- tone J24. I would go for that one and get a fuzzy off-white collar made for it. That way all seasons are covered.
RMC makes black, reddish brown ans purple. Not sure if they would make a white or naked untreated one for one off?

Thank you. The carabiner can be found here. It is also a small multitool. Once i began using it with keys I never went back. I hate keys in my pockets. The one issue I had with a carabiner setup was then the keys jingling non stop. So I added a leather sleeve from etsy to wrap my keys tight. No more jingle.

Agreed on the Y-2, maybe you need a 38 but if you have a 519, you probably don't need it. The other two both fit you well. They're definitely both loud models, and out of the two I prefer the RMC.

I actually think the grizzly fits you best. It's hard to tell with the ongoing shirt though. Even if you don't like to tuck your shirt in, it would be helpful to see fit pics without that shirt hanging out in order to judge the fit of the jackets better.

Due to the unfavorable photos (hanging shirt, shooting angle), it is difficult to make a statement about the fit. The style is a matter of taste, both Jackets are cool (J-24 and Grizzly). The black x white J-24 is no doubt sensitive when it comes to dirt, but that's what counts in the end, it's only when the white leather jacket looks properly 'worn' and yellowed that the jacket has character. You have to be aware of that, if you doubt from the start that the white leather of the jacket will get dirty over time, hands off.

I went back to s&s. Took another photo for the poll.

I disqualifiefld the RMC black x white j24. I have two moto jackets. But this attractions grizz is calling me. Here it is w/ just a tshirt.

Y2 has an eco anniv coming out. Double helix has aquaman momoa pitching that one. But the attractions one is cut literally for my body. The armpits are not loose or too snug. T shirt or sweater it fits. It has storm cuffs sleeves to block wind chill.

the white shearling isnt yellow or blingy. The only con is the black hh is not tea core.

Thoughts? Try double helix? Wait for y2 anniv grizzly?

I would wait for the Y2 version. Summer is just around the corner.
Y2 is also using the Colomer sheepskin, they’re the nicer stuff the Mccoys have used this past season for their sheepskin jackets.
if the Y2 doesn’t work fit wise, the Biltbuck will still be there…

The Attractions is a nice jacket I had one in black x black. To me it also looks easier to wear than some seem to make out. It’s cool, you can always get a black cross zip at any time.

I really like this one. Personally I'd be wanting a darker shearling for practicality's sake, but this does look great. Not being teacore would be a big bonus for me: if you want black leather, buy a black jacket; if you want it to go brown, why not buy a brown one to begin with?
