What a great hat.....

5" Crown, 4" front and rear.

2 3/8" Brim.

1 1/2" Navy Blue Grosgrain.

1 3/4" sweat with a real nice gold embellishment on it.

One of the inside crown shots (more yellow), is with a light shown behind it.

Can anyone figure out the thread count on it?

I think that may be one of those Parabuntal (sp?) straws. They originate in China no?

Or might that be what "Paglia" looks like?

I know I'm not being of real help just flailing around with guesses but I wanted to bump this back up in hopes more learned members like PanamaBob and others will clarify.

In any event, I really like that hat Bolt!

I wish. It was a present from the wife. She told me to buy a hat if I wanted, (silly wife, what was she thinking), and was looking to get another straw.

Knowing what Gene has said now, I wish I knew what it exactly is. Either way, it's incredibly light weight. [huh]

Oh yeah, Bolty; the bit about Parabuntal (if that is even what this is) being Chinese is not to be confused at all with the cheap "Made In China" junk that often has a stigma attached. They are classic hats and very respected quality. Far less often seen in vintage hats than Ecuadorian straws. Durable, rollable, beautiful color and finish. I want one badly.

Now let's just see if I'm even in the neighborhood with thinking that yours is that type or not...

I just caught this thread, and I've got to say,"WOW!" Until I got to the close-up shot, I had a hard time believing that hat was straw. Beautiful!!! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Barbisio straw

That hat is very nice . Believe it or not, it was made by Bollman Hats about 20 years ago in the USA. They had the license for Barbisio and Panizza at the time. We sold them for 35.00 back then.

So, is it a "Paribuntal" then, Like Gene had suggested?

Also, is it from the 80's like you said, or 1960 circa like the seller stated?
