Don't. IMO, peaks go better with double breasteds because they're a more substantial lapel to go with a more substantial buttoning.

The high buttons and lapel stance balances the look.

Also, the jacket Jack's wearing isn't a complete notch... it's just right for the jacket... sort of an inbetween thing.

That jacket looks very balanced. When you nip the peaks off a 40's jacket... that's ugly.

Holy Crimony! I have one like it except it is peaked lapel and not notched lapel.
I wore it last week. Maybe I need to get some pictures of it. I just thought it was a different take on the style. That and it cost me about $10.
