What I've read is that its the larvae after it hatches that eats the felt and as JT states they do not like light. Because the hats are in an open area they do collect dust but that is just another reason to hold them while brushing them.
Jeff, these hats are like ones children, how can you prefer one over the other? But the borsalino is one of my favs. I don't know the colors name but its like stetson's silver belly, a tany cream, or a creamy tan. My wife calls it a light tanish grey. And the felt is very smooth and supple.
