My hair has been needing a cut for the last couple weeks. I was going back and forth with wanting it to grow and wanting to cut it. Since it was getting long and heavy, it wouldn't hold a curl. I decided to run up to a walk-in place where I had had good luck in the past. Not this time. The lady practically did the exact oppposite of what I asked for. I said leave the length, trim about 1 inch off the layers, basically a just-above-shoulder-length bob with long layers. What I got was a mess! It's now just past my earlobes in front, past my shoulder in the back (like she didn't cut anything off the back), almost no layers in the front, lots of short layers in the back. For the past 2 days, I've been styling it every way I can think of to make it look decent. Basically, the only thing I can do is rolls. Sure, that may sound great, but there's NOTHING else I can do. I can't wear rolls to church or PTA meetings:eek: My husband keeps telling me to go back and have them fix it, but it would mean cutting really short. ACK!!!!

Sorry about your pain! I was victim of a bad cut more than once. The worst was in 1998 when I asked for an ear-length bob, stacked in the back. The lady gave me a bob, but SHAVED MY NAPE leaving me with a BOWL CUT instead. No -- actually it was more like Dorothy Hamil's cut (*CRINGE*)

I was so upset I went to another hairdresser to have it fixed. It was slightly better, but much too short. I did cry! The only thing you can do is just let it grow out.

Well, I got tired of trying to work with it and asked my mom to cut it. She cut about 3inches off the back, and it's now just a layered bob. Not great, but liveable.

I'm so sorry, this has happened to me, too. I started growing out my hair from a short pixie when I met my husband so I could have an up-do at our wedding. 2 years later, my hair was to my shoulders.

When we got back from the honeymoon, my hair was fried. I had been getting it trimmed regularly, but I was also a bad girl and dyed my hair myself a lot, so it was pretty damaged. And a week of sun, surf, and chlorine just made it worse.

My hair dresser was on vacation when I got back, so I decided to go to a guy I had never been to. I figured, how bad could he mess it up? I asked for about 3 inches to be cut off, with some shaggy layers so that I could do the flippy thing in the back.

What I got was a 3 inch long pixie! My hair was gone! And of course, I was wearing my glasses instead of contacts, so I couldn't see the huge hunks of hair being cut off (I am blind as a bat). He also had my back to the mirror so it could be a surprise. I figured "ok, 3 inches cut off is kind of dramatic, I can understand that." Um, yeah. I wanted to stab him with the scissors! 2 years of hard work down the drain. When I went back to my regular hairdresser, I was so ashamed! I have never strayed again!

I tried growing my hair out a couple times, but I always got impatient and cut it off again. I am currently the most successful I have been in a long time, with my longest layer almost shoulder length again. I tried to talk my hair dresser into cutting my hair off again a couple months ago, but she layered it heavily instead, and I like it.

So, the sum up, I am so sorry this has happened to you! I know how crappy it feels :( I hope you can find a hair dresser you like and trust. I adore mine, and would give her full control over my style. Good luck, hon!
