Shame as I think I would take a 7 1/8 from them...

I just received both the B-2 and RAF version today in the mail in a size 7 and both are too small.

I normally take a 7 but guess these run on the small side. Guess I will have to contact Gary and see what my options are. :rage:

Fantastic hat nonetheless!!

Cheers,

Bruce

Bruce,

You will recall that I warned (3rd posting above) about the sizing of these...

Thinking back, when I finished the sheepskin and chose the horsehide for the B-3 I made some time ago, I used the B-2 cap as the pattern. It's a good match with the 'two tone' type of B-3 jacket - I think the two go together well.

this is my first post as a new lounger..I brought my first ELC B2 10 years
ago from gary at duxford..I have worn it most days this winter..I have also
brought 4 B2's for friends who like the cap for its comfort, warmth & practicality..

Well just placed another order....

with ELC for 2 more B-2 hats. Alan, I should have asked for your advice first on the sizing part. From what I read the sizing was somewhat erratic so I do not know if that would have made any difference. Unfortunately they are out of stock on the order B-2s so had to order the newer ones with the broken grain. Hopefully the next size up in 7 1/8 will work better for me than the 7s I ordered and have in my possession now.

Anyone needing a size 7 in a B-2 or RAF versoin let me know. If not, they are going to my girlfriend's son!! ;)

Still, I have to say they are VERY GOOD looking and I am sure I will be very happy with the newer broken grain version as well.

Cheers,

Bruce

Bruce,

I hope you have better luck with this one. As I said in my post, I bought mine when they were first introduced and maybe this had an effect, but I tried on three, all with the same size label, and one was about a size too small, one a size too large, and one (like Goldilocks's porridge) was just right. OK at the factory, but quite how this is supposed to work in mail-order world, I don't know. Good luck, anyway.

BTW, Vladimir in Sweden has received his jacket, shipped at the same time as yours...

When I first tried on my B-2 it was probably a size too small, but the leather has stretched, relaxed and moulded beautifully to the size of my head
(Egg shaped,unfortunately:-( ) and I think if I had gone for a size larger it would be too big by now.

Thanks Alan, BTW I did receive my jacket and sent you a PM...

hopefully this time around the caps will work better.

Will give the 2 smaller ones to my girlfriend's son. I'm sure he like them as he liked the B-3 style jacket I bought for him as well earlier.

Cheers,

Bruce

Maybe its just me or because I have ALOT of hair!!

How are these caps supposed to fit? They seem to wear much higher on the head then my other baseball style caps!! I have many caps and these B-2s just seem to wear much higher on the head. Anyone one there with any insight about the wear would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Bruce

Bruce - PM not received

Bruce,

For some reason I'm not receiving PMs - they don't appear in my inbox. I need to get it looked at.

I hope the G-1 is OK.

The crown is quite low compared to most modern baseball caps, to if you pull it down, the top of your head will tend to fill it.

In any case, if you look at the inside, you will see that the panels are overlock stitched. This is very difficult to be consistent with, so really I'm not surprised that there can be some variation between sizes. As someone else points out, sheepskin is quite elastic and will conform to the head with wearing.

hi Alan, ...

Yes the jacket is lovely. I stated in the PM that I will try and get the knits repaired by my seamstress but overall I am very pleased. Was surprised how well it fit, thought it would be a little big but with a cashmere sweater it fits AMAZINGLY and my girlfriend actually prefers the G-1 to the ELC A-2 in a size 36 I received. I will post pics when I have her take some of the jacket while worn.

Cheers,

Bruce

Wow, I REALLY like the look of the RAF cap, it may not be an issue item it it sure looks sharp! And the price can't be beat either. I may just have to pick one up...It looks like the sheepskin used is the same as the 42 pattern Irvin, would match my jacket perfectly. And is that a little woven cloth RAF label in there too? nice touch.

There's no doubt that brown shearling cap is a steal

at 25 UKP . .. .but when I calculate shipping it spits out 20 UKP . . . Seems a trifle steep for an item weighing less than a pound weight . . .

Oh well . . .I'm a cheap ass . . .I guess . . . .Better than 45UKP plus 20 I suppose . . .

Inspired by Holdemchamps photos, I went and ordered an Irvin B-2 one size up from the cap I have right now. Strange thing is the checkout charged me 20 pounds for shipping, when only a week or so ago it charged me 15 for a cap of same size and weight. I left a message in the order asking Gary about it.
