Anybody out there know what a civilian aviator wore on his feet in the 1930s? Anything special? I suppose it would depend somewhat on thew type of aircraft - warm boots in an open cockpit in the winter or street shoes in an enclosed cabin? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I think a lot of pilots in the thirties were still adopting the boots and breeches look.

Ernest K. Gann (I think) mentions commercial pilots having a fondness for Justin Ropers.

That makes sense. And, I even have a well-worn pair! I don't think I ever flew an airplane wearing them but I may have. Great idea and that helps alot.
