I am pining for autumn. It's been so very hot here and couple that with the humidity and it's like a sauna outside. Every summer gets worse and worse for me in terms of dealing with the heat and the depression that comes along with it. (I'm pretty sure I have the summer version of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)). We finally got a break from it today - low 80s now.
I was feeling somewhat similar and, then, an email came in from a clothing company - North Sea Clothing London (http://www.northseaclothing.com) - where, last year for Christmas, we bought my girlfriend's father a beautiful wool sweater, this one
He's in his 80s, has had his health issues and we are lucky he's still with us - but. thankfully, overall is doing well - so we intentionally try to spoil him. This was not an inexpensive sweater, so even though I wanted one too, it was well past what I pay for clothes for myself and not going to happen. Then in the spring, they went on stupid silly sale (more than half off) and I bought this one for myself:
These sweaters are incredible. They are ridiculously well made, with heavy, heavy wool and very thick cuffs and waistbands that won't lose their shape - probably ever.
So today, with the temperature and humidity rising, fans blowing and work meh, the North Sea's email - with a real sale (not an every-other-day "sale" like those built into some companies business model) lead me to buy these two - the first (in ecru for my girlfriend's dad and the second one in grey for me) as the price was really, really good and it allowed me to think of Autumn and sweaters and leaves and crisp air.
For dad:
For me:
If they appeal to you, check out the sale section as the prices are really good and, in the two years I've known about this company, they have only had a few items on sale a few times.
