A little useless trivia: The simple yet memorable line, "You rang?" was ad-libbed by Ted Cassidy. Because the character never spoke in any of Charles Addams' cartoons, the show's producers intended Lurch to be mute. Cassidy took it upon himself to utter the line during filming of the first episode, and the response from the studio audience was so favorable that they gave him some dialogue.

Parents...I have my Mom yet, she is 92 going on being a 1 1/2 year old....and fast! My Father died some time ago.....Daniel's Father has been gone since 2000....his Mom is still around...doing well...and an "aunt mom" that is also doing well. My parents have been a positive part of life as has Daniel's so no bad stories there....but as the late Paul Harvey would say, now....for the rest of the story.....lol My ADULT children have all progressed themselves into their own World, my oldest Son is not allowed near me....I actually carry a 9mm (two, one on the waist concealed another in purse or ankle holster) and that speaks for itself regarding what relationship I have with him.....my youngest Son lives far enough away that I don't have to worry about him....and my Daughter works on some Island now, off the coast of the State of Washington, so she is not around to create any problems directly at our home.....and for the loons they have all been placed on notice....if they come here now, they enter at their own risks! LOL I do have a few family that is always welcome and many friends that are considered family....as does my Husband. There is only one living relative in his family that is wearing the loon badge...and that one does not have our home address nor phone numbers...so...as the Umpire says while Casey slides home..."you're safe"! lol! Cousin Sparky has been directed to stick to the direction of the Salvation Army for any help or meals she may need for Christmas time....including all those kids she has that still are not accounted for....

You know those chirpy Christmas newsletters that people send every year ? How I wish every one I get from now on had this degree of honesty.

I always favored The Munsters over The Addams Family. I guess that was because I was so young watching those shows that I really didn't get a lot of the more cerebral humor of The Addams Family. The Munsters were a lot more on a kid's level. Watching them as an adult, I do get the Addams Family humor a lot more, but still the seed of preferring The Munsters was planted long ago.

I like both shows, but was always more of an Addams Family fan--even as a kid I appreciated the bizarre humor and wild characters more.

Without question, Mary Ann over Ginger, and Morticia over Lily! :eyebrows:

Marilyn over both.
The first one. :D
While I like both shows, I do prefer the Munsters.
Especially the Paul Lynde episodes.

Leaves are starting to fall a bit, and the temps are having their one last "warm" gasp.
It's coming, dern it.

Yep, Gomez got it right. Herman, not so much. :D

On a semi-related note, I saw John Astin at a convention several years ago where he spoke at some length about working on The Addams Family. Among many other things, he said it wasn't too difficult to perform in the "romantic" scenes with Carolyn Jones because she was such a naturally warm and charismatic person. He said there were never any displays of egotism from her, and that she knew every member of the crew and would go out of her way to introduce herself to new members and visitors, and made everyone feel equally welcome. He also said she could have been a stand-up comedian if she'd wanted to, and would often "hold court" between takes by entertaining the cast and crew with countless humorous stories.

Oh No man....Herman was one lucky so and so...How that big goof landed her I'll never figure out.
Yvonne De Carlo was gorgeous, no doubt about it. And if Herman and Lily had been allowed to show their affection for each other the way Gomez and Morticia did, this would probably be a very different discussion. But, all things being what they are, Gomez and Morticia come across as perpetual newlyweds, while Herman and Lily come across as an old married couple who have seen too many years together. Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong. lol
