One of my favorite classes in college was an entire term of Kurt Vonnegut. We "had" to read most of his books, slaughterhouse, sirens, breakfast, galapagos, etc. It was a great class because you got to read and discuss at an intellectual level his works. They had a lot of social meaning but more than that they were well written and best of all a pleasure to read. My youngest has found some of those old books and is now reading them. It is interesting to hear his 18 year old take on the books. He will be sorely missed, his style of social commentary seems to be in short supply these days.
