( Profuse apology if this has been previously posted !)

This popped up in my Australian searches.

He seems to have some nice patterns and jackets listed.

From what I gather AUSTRALIAN made !

I have no iron in the fire here , just piqued my interest due to the Aussie manufacture

Converted to $USD at the current exchange rate these would be VERY well priced indeed !

If you keep looking on eBay and a few other sites, there are a whole bunch of cheap knockoffs with very tempting prices. I have no idea if this manufacturer is at all similar, but I ordered some stuff on eBay and from Aliexpress as an impulse buy, but a lot of the leather on the jackets I got felt like sofa upholstery material. It had a plastic-feel and an odd smell. I don't want to disparage any manufacturer, but usually when the prices for a classic style are at prices well below the market compared to well-known manufacturers, I can't kept but wonder, "what's the catch?"

I am still "digging into" this. From my perspective they jumped up right out of the blue !

Melbourne is 3,500 Km away from me in Perth Western Australia so "popping in" is not an option sadly.

I will keep this thread posted as I find out more.

The situation I had with one buyer on eBay was claiming to sell horsehide jackets out of Japan, but the jacket was actually made in China. While the images all looked good online, in person, it was clearly bad quality. I had a similar issue come up with Aliexpress.

I’m starting to get to the point where I’ll shell out more for a style or manufacturer if they have a proven track record. When I see stuff like “designed in...” and it’s made somewhere else, it’s possible the item is legit or at least a good deal, but my experience says otherwise.

I was "wondering" from the start after "finding" this Australian eBay sales outlet.

I think Seb has got the nous of the setup.

It sounds like you are physically measured up here in Australia ( tyranny of distance notwithstanding !)

The Melbourne contact may indeed be a tailor who takes sizings and organises "customisation" to suit

The ebay feedback is good , one of the previous 'half belt" jackets in Goat hide as shown below

Whereas these guys are 100 % Australian made , right here in Perth WA
Just last year I was in their workshop having a jacket re-zippered ( a good job , albeit YKK !)
I walked thru the leather storeroom , swathes of hides to the horizon in a multitude of colours , range of leathers.
The place smells HEAVENLY...
20 YEARS ago this Greek shopowner made me an exact replica of my 1990 Eastman Luftwaffe that I still wear occasionally today.

Currently in the process of having a jacket custom made by the ebay seller. Have mailed him in my Wolf Guidemaster to be remade to my specs. He said he'll be able to do a tea core steerhide, but needs to see if he'll be able to replicate the pattern first. Should arrive to him on Tuesday.

Am based in Perth, thought I'd take the risk since the jackets look pretty decent for the price, but we'll have to see

I've buzzed them an email a couple months back, but they have never gotten back to me. Was actually going to pay them a visit before this whole pandemic spiraled out of control, so I'll be postponing my visit there :(

Sinikka is quite an old fashioned wee workshop. I don't mind that myself , but it's NOT modern/trendy

Their website is OK but the owner is probably not a huge email guy . He may be 70(ish)

NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT HAHA...

very interested in hearing how turns out. I am Melbourne based but fairly limited in my leather jacket knowledge, only went deep down the leather jacket rabbit hole 3 years ago.

Just saw this jacket on ebay as well, quite small but very unique pattern & collar...anyone find out if this is an Australian-built jacket company? Just interesting to me here

These are Chinese-made jackets, sold in Australia. I've seen a similar set up with jackets sold in Japan, but also made in China. Seems like the intention by these companies is to imply that the jacket is made where it is being sold.
