At last, I got myself a heated hat stretcher!

After all is said and done, I find that getting a haircut and using a hat jack (but only a couple of turns) gets the job done. As long as the sweatband is nice and supple and I steam the hat before inserting the hat jack, I don't have a problem. This works for getting just a bit more room in a 7 1/2 and getting a 7 5/8 loosened up if it has shrunk a bit.

I don't believe I'd really want to go for a whole size or two increase. I just don't want to chance getting the crown all out of proportion.

That being said, I'll be posting some smaller hats in the classifieds soon.

My wife and I drove over to Granbury (about 150 miles), this morning. We bought this one. It's going to be my Christmas present. She fell in love with one of Jimmy's original design hats for women. Electric hat stretcher

I caution you to be very careful. I have an electric hat stretcher. I got it from Art. It will heat up very quickly. You use this to warm the dome up, then turn it OFF. Then put the hat on the dome, and gently stretch the hat/sweatband.

It works wonders, and will upsize a hat a full size and a half if you are overly aggressive. Use this sparingly.

I have two wooden hat stretchers, and two non-electric "dome" stretchers. The electric one is nice in that you don't have to steam the hat first.
