Hi, I bought my Lock & Co Sandown Trilby 10 years ago and love it dearly. I'm beside myself and would love to get your advice.

I've kept the hat cleaned and steam it on occasion and brush it. I've worn it almost daily but never pick it up by the pinch. Although from shaping it the pinch area has gotten quite thin and has 3 very small holes in it.

3lso about 3 years ago I started noticing these spots on it, and they have gotten much worse. I steamed, brushed and used tape. I tried sprinkling corn starch and leaving over night and brushing the following morning. Ive used a soft sponge and filtered water.

And now a couple small holes have shown up at the pinch, as I said, though you can hardly see them.

I've considered a trip to London from my home in Istanbul just to let Lock & Co see it. Now I'll send some photos to see what you guys think. Im wondering if this dear hat is dying a natural death or stiill can be saved.

Wow!

Hello, will try with the same question here as I already asked in The Cap Faction and that would be:

I am looking for a quality old school 100% tweed wool bakers or preferably newsboy cap. I would like it to have a leather sweatband, be unlined or, if it has to be lined, at least with natural materials and have a snap button attached to the crown. What are your recommendations, especially European makers?

Send us some 'after' pics to show their work. Great customer service
Sure will... I'm in Turkey now and know that customs will hold this hat forever on its return trip. So my next door neighbors are going to London the middle of March. They would be happy to take it and pick it up when it's finished, and bring it back in April.

So it's a little bit of a wait, but not bad...I was thinking of taking it, this Summer. So this is alot sooner than that.

I'll definitely be back here with some pictures. The Hat Smith there said he thought he could make me happy with this hat and add many more years of life to it. So we will see...I think Lock & Co are so famous for their service and they certainly seem dedicated to the hats that their customers buy.

Looking forward to this...

Anyone very familiar with wool jackets tell me if this looks like a 30s jacket with 50s zipper replacement? Seems like a very odd design for a 1950s zipper.

You might have better luck in this thread (vs. this one in the hat sub-forum).
