I recently picked this up this heather. It's a Christys' Of London "Wildfowl Mixture". The primary color is Elder Green and the secondary color is Woodcock Brown. Kinda hard to photograph the blended colors. Can anyone help me date it? I found an ad from the Sydney Morning Herald dated March 31, 1954. I love the blended colors which is why I got it even though the brim is a bit narrow at 2 1/4". The size is 7 1/8 UK so 7 1/4 US. I don't know if this has ever been worn. It's pristine.

Sometimes a hat is just so cool, you have to buy it even though the brim is shorter than you generally like. I've done it, too. Very cool lid, Bill.

Sorry, no help from me on this one. I am totally ignorant on these.

What a super find. I can’t help on dating it, but now I want one for myself.

Is it soft to the touch, Bill? The texture seems like it is a little rough... Or is it like my C&K, that is feather soft, even if it seems scratchy on sight?

I especially like the one on the front left, the Vita-Felt.
So this is my dilemma. Over the last few weeks I’ve acquired these three hats. You are looking at a 40/50s Stetson Whippet in the back, a 40s Stetson Vita-Felt front left, and a 40s/50s Canadian Stetson front right. If I only keep one - which do I keep? BTW the Whippet needs to be cleaned. It’s a bit dingy.

I'll take the Whippet so you'll have to keep one of the others :)

I’m partial to the Vita-Felt. That said, if the felt is nicer on the Canadian I’d go for it, but my very limited experience is the Stetsons made in Canada aren’t as nice. Based just on looks, I’m sticking with the Vita-Felt.

I prefer the Vita-Felt simply because of the brim binding.

OK, here is an easy question (HA). What is the modern Dobbs model that is the closest in look and quality to the modern Premiere Stratoliner?

Looking at the 2017 catalogs for both Stetson and Dobbs I don't think Dobbs has a Stratoliner look alike. Which doesn't surprise me since they are both made in the same factory by HatCo. But I don't have the 2018 catalogs so someone else may have different information.
