One of the vendors mentioned his fall colour felts are coming in soon. Between these two of mine, which one looks more fall and what one looks more spring?

Does anyone have seasonal hats based on colour?

For me classifying hats to a season is more a question of material than of color.
i.e: straws and light-weight felts for summer - vs. - thick and heavy felts for winter.
My choice of colors depends on: matching my outfit, weather and environment, time of day, etc.

Just picked this up on eBay . It reminded me of a cross between a stratoliner(crown and bound edge) and playboy (ribbon).

Any idea what it is?

Too small for mre (6-7/8). I'm a 7 to 7-1/8. Will try to give it a stretch and good cleaning.

The Wanderer was a bound edge model with a playboy width ribon (also, wider brim) but most model names are lost to history unless there is other documentation in or with the hat.

Looking at a Stratoliner open crown in "Cornhill" - three questions:
1) Is this a premier Strat
2) What color is Cornhill anyway?
3) Do these shrink down like Akubras (should I go 1/2 sz up)?

Thank you if you can help

1) Open crown = premiere
2) mid/light tan
3) No, my premiere Stratoliner actually runs a smidgen larger than my other Hatco size 7's. The leather is high quality and shrinkage should not be an issue.

I posted a photo of me wearing my Cornhill a couple of days ago in the WHAYWT thread. Mine is a Premier Royal DeLuxe and the sweat has not shrunk at all (I have a few Akubras and all mine have shrunk a bit).

I don’t know if you can get them in the Royal lineup, but you won’t like it if you do. The Premier or the discontinued and rare Excellent are the ways to go.

These Stratoliners are modern, right Brent? How does the felt compare with the Vintage ones I got from Moon, I wonder?

Hey, Max. For modern hats, the Premiers are very nice, but they don’t compare to better vintage hats. The Excellents are much more comparable, but the $300+ price makes them a questionable value if you can find vintage hats. At my size, vintage can be hard to find so I’m pretty satisfied with the Premier and Excellent hats...but they are best saved for cooler months due to the thick felt.

Ah! That helps me understand. Thank you, Brent. :)

So....now I'm wondering if a Stratoliner is a step up, down, or lateral step from my Campdraft. What's the difference between the two? Maybe I'll just get another CD--they're cheaper. (I do like the look of that Cornhill though--is Taupe Fawn close to that?)
