Great work on that one.

A narrower ribbon might very well solve the extremely short crown's extremely short look, though.

You have to like porkpies to wear one, as with anything else. <duh>

I'm just glad you didn't cut eye holes in the brim. haha
Thanks Scotty, I tried to like the pork pie look but just did not look good on me. I have lots of hats with narrow ribbons and don't want all the same looking hats so needed to keep it as original as possible. This is the only one I have with a back bow as well. It turned out better than I thought it would. I really wanted a more sharply defined tear drop like this photo I found but was not able to pull off that deep groove around the raised center dome. Guess a special tool is needed for that one. :)

I’ve tried that deep crown crease myself without success.

I wouldn't even want to try with mine. Some were creased by Optimo and some by Anthony, and I wouldn't want to mess them up.

Optimo did a great job for you. Anthony was one of the kings of the diamond crease and I’m sure you’ll like them. One of the great things about quality hats is that you can crease and re-crease them as you will.

He has a video in youtube showing how to do it. Seems easy, the way he shows it. Maybe I will have to once I bring the hats home.

Man that’s a tough one there! You gotta have lots of crown, little or no taper and gettin it to stay while you wear it is difficult. And then there’s the felt. Takes some thin “real” quality felt to follow those lines. Good one!!
Afraid that would be a trailer queen for me.

I purchased an original photo of a hat factory. Seller states it is the Stetson factory. Can't confirm at this point, however I suppose it's possible as it looks like a big operation. Any guesses on a timeframe this could have been taken?

First of all, I would just like to say "hello" to everybody here!

Second of all, I've been looking at the Stratton & W. Alboum hats, and I've noticed that the straw hats are labelled "double brim" and "single brim". As far as I can tell, the only difference is that the double brim ones appear to be taller, but I may have read elsewhere that the double brim ones are also stronger. Is this true? What other differences are there?

Oh, on a side note, I've noticed a similar thing with felt hats, whether 3xxx or 5xxxxx felt. Do the same rules apply?

No real way to tell unless someone just happens to have the same photo which is identified. Judging by the hats, hair styles and dresses.....I would say this is from the early to mid 30's .....

I don't know java script from a cup of java, but my page often jumps down almost to the bottom when I am typing a reply (as it just did). Overall, not the end of the world, but it is a pain in the patoot.
I have both the jumping and freezing along with the random loss of my text................
I SURE HOPE SOMEONE IS WORKING ON IT........it is a positive pain in the butt!!,

Hmmm .. okay ... what web browsers are you using then? I'm using Chrome on three different computers (2 personal, 1 from work) without seeing any odd behavior. Yet. <fingers crossed>

pat----
Chrome and Firefox. ESPECIALLY problematic on the Chrome on my Android tablet!! I have to keep turning off the javascript permisions (which creates a new set of issues, BUT makes typing a LOT better). Aparently I am not alone......
