Question for y'all. Stetson 6x vs Royal Deluxe? Which is the better quality? I ask due to considering getting an Open Road. Available in both. I would actually settle on a vintage but everytime I come across one they are way priced out of my comfort zone.

the X's don't mean a whole lot when discussing modern Stetson hats ... they really started losing their meaning in probably the mid to late 50s ...
and I haven't noticed much of a quality difference in modern Stetson hat designations outside of the Excellent quality hats which are in my opinion priced absolutely ridiculously

I wish there was a more clear cut answer for you my brother ... but modern Stetson kind of just blur into one big category regardless of their multiple designations which seem to be more of an homage to the past more than anything else

I am a collector and I too gave up on the bidding for vintage Stetson's so you are not alone. I have however picked up 3 now, two from the Lounge here or Etsy for a reasonable price . One I got on Ebay BIN, paid in the $200 range for all of them. All of them almost pristine.

Try searching for a Resistol. Lots of OR styles like the San Antonio. Since they're less well known outside the western hat world, they don't command quite the attention that Stetsons do.

I agree, Jared. I've picked up a couple Resistol beaver 25's for much less than my OR.

I have actually just received my second shipment from an Ebay seller. Sewmaster? It has been a pleasure working with him. Prices very affordable and I have yet to not get a quality Stetson from him. Perhaps a member here?

I will eventually get around to calling the Stetson Outlet. I wish they would have an online presence as my hours due to work are pretty unconventional and it is hard for me to do things during the day.
