I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get close. I imagine the original may have had more crown height and the felt would have reacted differently, so the folds might not be quite as tight.

I am going overseas for several days and want to take a fedora with me. Any suggestions for a travel fedora? I am looking at the Stetson Runabout Packable hat. Any suggestions or thoughts about this option or others?

I'm currently bidding on a nice looking fedora made by a Vienna based company called Dobesch. Does anyone have any idea on the quality of their hats? Thanks.

LeBois46,I don't have a Runabout but recently other Loungers have indicated that it doesn't handle being wet very well.

I have a quick question. I just received a new hat that seems to have a dent/crease in the middle of the brim. You can't really see it, but if you pass your fingers across it you can definitely feel it. It feels like a weak spot in the felt when pinched between the fingers. Is this of any concern as to the integrity of the hat? Will this spot wear prematurely?

BayouBeard, without seeing it one can't tell much but I doubt its anything serious.

RJR...you really can't see the crease in the brim unless the light hits it just right. It's when I pick the hat up by the brim that the crease shows up. It feels the same as a piece of stiff cardboard that has a weak spot left by a crease.

My felt hat appears to have shrunk (shrank, whatever) a bit, looking for ways to stretch it back out a bit. It fit great when I first got it.

Get a Hat Jack or a vintage hat stretcher off ebay. Most western wear stores that have a hat dept can stretch one while you wait.
If you are a serious hat wearer, at hat jack is pretty much necessary equipment like a hat brush, IMHO.
Some folks use their bent knee but I keep my stretchers & hat jack in constant use on the hats I wear regularly...

I have a early 50's stetson fedora ,light grey 3x beaver that is great shape, except it has now got rust colored stains all over it.
It's been in the box for many years and was not stained when put away. Has anyone seen similar stains and could suggest which cleaning method would work best in this case.
I will try to include picture of hat.
Thank you for any guidance.
