Just found this tag in my Aero 50s HB(was sure it was lost, but the former owner had ripped it off and saved it in the chest pocket).

Do we have any Aero historian that can tell me something about the jacket going by this tag, seems like a rather low/early order nr if they started from 1. and so on :)

Love this beauty and would love some more info.

Cheers

The leather looks great too. I’d ask Aero. They can probably tell you who MJ is as well.

That's an order number 40, meaning batch of orders or something to that extent. The jacket is relatively old-ish, possibly from the... Different management era or slightly earlier. That's when they used the logo zipper pulls. But regardless, any CXL jacket was made post 1995.

Thanks for the answer Monitor, much appreciated! :)

Hi folks,
can someone help me to identify this vintage shearling liner vest that I bought some time ago? I bought this here in Germany in a Bundeswehr store and they have told me that is a vintage RAF vest. There is no tag or writing anywhere. The buttons first look like Russians stars but in fact it is rather like 5 rhombi. I somehow doubt that it is English and cannot find anything close to the vest when checking vintage RAF supply. Do you guys know what kind of vest that is and thanks a bunch in advance!

Yes this is the one that I've seen too. I saw somewhere that their size 40 jackets have a 25.5 inch back length so the size 42 may be way too long for this style, which is my main concern. But I know numbers only tell half the story so I wanted to see if anybody has experience with it.

The leather also looks like it has a teacore effect but looks like it fades beautifully rather than chips, which is special.
I had a Sugar Cane half belt size 42, tape measure pics and fit pics here,

My best guess is that the Sugar Cane aviator is gonna fit similar. But I never know unless I see a tape measure or have the jacket myself.
There are other alternatives out there from both The Few and Toys Mccoy which on the used market can be found for less sometimes.

I remember seeing a similar pattern from Toys Mccoy / Baping Ape collab but I can't find it now.

The best part about the earlier jackets were that they gave you things like Crown zippers. The later jackets just generic repros from Waldes. Although I had always suspected the Crowns are also repros by Riri, that's just my suspicion, not fact.

What do you search in buyee for the B-3s with the tag cut off? Just ‘Real McCoy B-3’?
I mostly search by price and let the fate tell me where to go. But I knew what I was looking for, HLB Corp B3 with the two panel back. I got mine for ¥98,000 two summers ago. They're out there just be patient and keep an eye out.

I remember seeing the name of that jacket too but can't recall at this point. It has the narrower collar, similar to the Michigan Wind model above, which I think I prefer over the more splay collar of the Sugar Cane aviator.

Unfortunately it's really rare to come across a size 42 in these old jackets.

If it fits anything like this Sugar Cane, it definitely won't work for me. Even the RC Ponyboy I bought from you was too long and wide at the hem for me.

Off the rack aviator jackets are harder to fit. They just aren't as short or \ / tapered as the OTR motorcycle jackets. A lot of them are also in the half belt length >23" in the front, where as the moto jackets are only 21". It would make sense to make an aviator jacket in the motorcycle jacket fit, but for off rack I haven't come across one. The best compromise is to find an aviator jacket that is only 22" in the front, which are rare, Dapper's Johnson Bros and Cushman's aviator are that lengths, in the 22" range for front length.

I think the At Last & Co aviator jackets are also short and pretty boxy. But those cost a pretty penny.
