@torfjord Damn, that shrunken horse looks unique. Do you happen to have a full picture of the jacket?

with a chrome pull e.g

Not sure if that helps date it, however I do have the serial number...

Can anyone please point me at one of these in brass?
The pulls is correct for the 'stop'(?) however seems oversized/awkward mis match design.

Many thanks
Al

does thicker fur = thicker leather too?

For instance, if something like eastman uses 3/4 or 18mm inch shearling, would the leather side ALSO be thicker than something that uses 12 or 15mm like their b6?

Besides leather jackets - and denim I suppose - what else improves with age, increases in value with more break-in/wear? I'm having trouble thinking of anything.

A good wok. A cast iron frying pan. What else?

Why is the Schott 141 in brown look so black?
I asked Google but it linked to the Schott forum, so it's a dead link. Then I again discussed THAT problem with Denise over there. She doesn't seem to care.
So why is the brown Schott 141 so black? Will it break in toward brown, I hope?

No, the thickness of the fur does not play a role in the thickness of the leather.
All my Aero shearlings have about twice as thick leather as the previous 5*. And some of them have shorter fur.

look wise :
wooden handle or furniture,
metals that gain patina like brass zippo, or belt buckle or pen,
bags that is frequently used
hat / cap that is your favorite
leather boots, saddle, belt, wristband, pouch, wallet, etc.
nylon that has been exposed to UV for years or decades until naturally fades

value wise:
brain

Curious, how would you guys suggest I tackle these water stains?!

This is a tan vegetable tanned leather from Double Helix, and for whatever reason it is super sensitive to liquids. Some water dripped down the lapel over the weekend and left a noticeable stain, so I tried wiping the area in hopes of blending it in. The result is what you see in the photos below.

Obviously it’s not the prettiest fix but I’m not sure where to go from here. Should I just wipe down the entire jacket hoping for a better blend or should I maybe apply a product to it to make it more waterproof?! If so, suggestions on what I should use?

Any old guitar? Or only an instrument owned & played by someone famous? - Which I suppose would give it provenance but not necessarily make it a better instrument...
Or perhaps age increases its perceived value.
Not all guitars, Acoustic/Wooden guitars. This would translate to other wooden instruments; Violins, Cellos. Nothing to do with a famous owner.

Guitars are wood and finish. Both need to age through being played, even the term "broken in" applies to guitars.

I collected vintage guitars for many years yet never realized the similarities between the two. They both get better with age.
