Hello guys,

I have a chance to buy Legendary USA Black Stallion. Asking price is €400 (I am in EU). It is a size 44, I am counting on visiting a skilled leatherworker with bike leather expertise to size it down a bit, especially in the chest, i am between sizes 40 and 42. I know how much the resizing costs.

What I want to know is if it is a good deal for that money. I know they went for about 1-1500$ when new, and they are no longer available. I heard that the leather is perfect on these. Any opinions?

Hey folks…

I need some advice. I picked up a new fit J24 recently from an EU based retailer.

The zipper. God… the zipper. I started having issues with it pretty quickly - it seems that a number of teeth are misaligned so it tends to unzip itself half way up the zipper.

In the meantime I’ve also picked up an old fit J24 which actually fits me better … but I’d intended to use the roomier new fit as a winter jacket to wear layers underneath.

So the zipper issue has deteriorated to the point where it just needs to be replaced. It’s only 4 months old so I went back to the original retailer to see if they could assist … but it’s been radio silence now for two weeks.

Does anyone have a recommendation for anyone who could replace the zipper in the EU? I can’t send it to the UK as I’m based in Ireland and I’ll get hit by customs at either end sending it over unfortunately. I’m pretty sure there’s nobody in Ireland who would be able to do this.

Are these the made by schott ones? If it’s you’re size, for 400 euros I’d buy it

That's a good price, I wouldn't bother with resizing though, I feel you would need to repattern the whole jacket or else the proportions are gonna look off. I would personally hold out for the jacket in a size 42.

My limit personally would only be shortening the sleeves, but I would still rather just get something that fits me off the rack honestly. I have a relatively average measurements so most things will fit fine so I don't bother with alterations.

Size down is gonna be around 400 or more from an experienced crafts person.
That’s a lot.
I would recommend only modifying something you already have for a while and you know exactly what needs to be improved/changed. any more forward thinking usually ends in very little returns.
good luck.

Maybe a long shot but does anyone know who makes gladhand & co / old crow jackets? They say made in japan and the hides look high quality.

I just bought this pretty insane old set. Price looked a little too good to pass up. Main zip looks replaced on jacket, looks like an original 30s zip on the (hopefully) matching pants. Can anyone tell me something about what I bought? Thanks

It's a very good deal pricewise. But you're taking a big chance if you want to retailor it.
Same thing happened to me: I had a size 40 modified into a 38 and it turned out well (https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/schott-black-stallion.99834/page-2). In your case though, a size 44 might be difficult to turn into a 40.
