The above is correct. A small enclosure is essential so the ozone is concentrated. And keep hitting it and airing out as JMax says. I'd be stunned if it did not work, even on afterhave or cologne odors.

I’ve seen a few comments here about the Aero Board Racer and J100 having a different fit. Would someone mind elaborating on the difference? I gather the BR is slimmer.

Any advice on ordering a J100 style jacket from Aero? I understand there isn’t much front drop, so I’d have to go a. It longer all over to get it right in the front.

I thought they were the same dimensions, just different back panels. Board Racer has the center seam no yoke and J100 has the yoke and no center seam. Do they have different dimensions? I think the design that will offer the most mobility is the one with the center vent. Unfortunately I didn't see this until after I placed my order. So I am just getting a regular seven'ed BR center seam back with no vents.

Can anyone offer a recommendation for getting an alteration on a leather jacket (shorten sleeves) in the NY Tri-State area? I am aware that many have had good experiences with Dena and I may very well end up going that route but I now have [sigh!!] two jackets that need shorter sleeves and hoping there might be a somewhat less costly option or at least one that will save me the round trip shipping on two jackets.

Hi, was wondering if anyone had opinions on Aero's Kelpie vs Vincenza vs Jerky for a Board Racer. I originally was going to go with (and still might) go with the CXFQHH. Wanted to see if anyone has had good experiences with some of the other midweight HHs. I was especially interested in the Kelpie but couldn't find much info on it. Thanks in advance!

I am not gonna be much help because the extra 10 ends tomorrow and I won't have my Kelpie jacket by then.

However, I do have Vicenza and Jerky. I would say that Jerky (feels) stretchier than Vicenza for sure. There is some give. The problem is the painted finish which I am no fan of. I prefer darkening patina than lighten fading. This is also why I went with Kelpie for my "Seven" Board Racer. I've read Ton's review on Kelpie that it is thin so that means more pliable to me. Also from Aero's description they say it's full aniline, so that means CXL like to me. I hope I did the right thing. My goal was to get a CXL type leather but Jerky wearability, especially on a tight pattern like the Board Racer.

I don't think you can go wrong with any CXL but the Board Racer from what I've read is the slimmest Aero pattern so you've gotta get that sizing right, espcially with the CXL leather.

Thanks for your insight! It came down to CXFQHH and Kelpie for me too. I got a hold of someone from Aero and eventually decided to go with the CXFQHH.

The Kelpie certainly looked pliable and comfortable. The CXFQHH on the jacket I was interested in was lighter and not as stiff, it also had a much more interesting grain (to me). So those were the factors that led me to go with the CXFQHH. Hopefully it fits!

If they happen to be Schott jackets, I sent mine directly to Schott in NJ and they did an awesome job and a very reasonable price to shorten my sleeves. Stands to reason they would only work on their own jackets.

Anyone know where to source some good, smooth back sheepskin like Aero and such use? I've found quite a few shearling options but almost all of them are suede back, or super thin.

The smooth backs are called "double faced". So the suede side is laquer / resin finished. Harder to come by but they're out there. I like the finished backs, they feel stronger and more robust.

I have yet to find a the Irvin color double faced sheepskin. I think those are custom order not retail.

Yeah I prefer the finished back as I've heard sheepskin is already on the delicate side. I know that Aero and SB use North American shearling but I've not been able to find the black one for retail, only the cream/ginger skins from GH leather. And I would really prefer to avoid going through SB again.
