Was planning to get this jacket: https://thedi-leathers.com/product/mtc-127996/
With bruciato horsehide.
After see how the back is little puffy it might be better to get: https://thedi-leathers.com/product/mtc-10075/

Hmm maybe I'll keep the same sleeve length. I haven't had a quality leather jacket, only have a deerskin flathead that is too soft, where the creases shorten the sleeve.

@Marc mndt @Tom71 @Robbie79 can help you here, they have plenty of experience with Thedi jackets. Marc has a great looking bruciato cross zip

I also have a Thedi in cowhide in the works so I'm eager to hear what they say. I chose a pattern similar to your original pick as I'm not too fond of half belts right now. The leather on the small of the back will relax over time, it just looks like that because the leather hasn't had time to break in and for around the wearer

I think the jacket size looks good the way it is. With some wear it will better shape to your body and look even nicer. I'd sure keep it. I like it better than the other two jacket styles that you posted...but that's just my opinion.

Should a leather jacket feel like a snug hug around the shoulders or some other part of your body until it breaks in? I understand that some conforming around the body will occur over time with wear but I'm just curious because it makes me wonder if feeling like being put in a light bear hug trying to undo or put on my necklace is too tight for a leather jacket.

I like it on the snug side when the jacket is new, some hides do stretch some don't but they give in when it's breaked in and it relaxes. Can you drive with it or hold the phone to your ear okay?

Yeah, both of my newer jackets were very much on the snug size when I got them but I have worn them enough so they have worn in a bit and are continuing to mold to my body more. However, I was just unsure if maybe they should feel less snug then what I have, what I've tried, and what I've sampled in stores. I can definitely drive with them, although there is still some snugness until they break in better, and I can hold a phone to my ears but if I reach up above my head I can definitely still feel a slight tug when moving but that's slowly getting better too. Like the example I gave with my necklaces or when I reach up to grab something above me or to move something above me to the side. I do enjoy the tighter fits though but I'm still getting used to the different fits of leather.

I'm guessing that feeling of restriction while doing overhead activities while wearing a leather jacket will be there a good while especially if you have jacket made from a thicker hide. Some makers do seem to make better patterns in terms of improved range of motion in the shoulders. I also noticed jackets with lower armholes have it worse when it comes to mobility.

Yeah, I'm going to try to wear the hell out of them. I've been wearing my Fine Creek Leather Ryan jacket a ton because that one I want to break in faster. When I first tried it on and bought it I got blood bruises on my arms near my elbow tendon by the bicep/forearms because of the snugness and bending my arms haha. That was my intro to thicker horse hide leather but it's feeling better and better. I'm loving the Shinki horsehide and I can see myself owning more of it in the future. Also, yes, I think I need to pay better attention to the shoulders because since I rock climb I don't want my boulder shoulders to throw off the fit of any jacket. I thought higher armholes have it worse when it comes to mobility? I'm probably wrong haha.

I think there in lies your issue with the rock climbing upper torso and slipping into a fine creek that looks really trim lol i also got the bruising with cxl horsehide but it's probably from the lining bunching up and pinching on the bend of the arm. Shinki is cool but don't fall too deep, there's plenty of other awesome leather out there not named shinki. Stick around there's plenty of patterns/hides/makers for you to see here

Here's a comparison between two Thedi's with the same cossack pattern as yours.

I sold the brown one because I felt the body length was an inch too long. The green one is shorter, perfect imo.

I own a bruciato horsehide halfbelt. In hindsight, I should have added a bit more sleeve length because the bruciato hh indeed creases up like @Jin431 mentioned.

What do you guys this of this fit?
Thurston says -0.5 inch length and if I really want shorter sleeves -0.25inch.

Personally, I like the front length and wouldn’t shorten the back more than a half inch, but I know I am an outlier. Generally, I’d say listen to the collective wisdom of this group - they know what they are talking about. While I’m just some rando on the Interweb, if you think you’d be more comfortable with that length then stick with it. I feel more comfortable wearing jackets that are a tad longer l than most people.

The brown cossack look more tubular maybe because of the length but it's still a great fit. The green canvass/leather looks as good as any of your other fits.

The bruciato HH is so nice!

It's going to be a good week for you my friend, hopefully you receive both of your jackets this coming week!

Well, I read this whole thread today while I was waiting for DHL to deliver my Real McCoys Nelson 30’s style jacket size 40. There was a knock at the door exactly when I finished and here it is! I got to say that y’all’s advice is spot on in the previous posts. I needed 22” pit to pit and that is how I sized this jacket for me. It fits like it was made for me! I’ll start another thread with a review with more pics and some pants other than my loungers. Give me a day tho, I’m going to bask in the glory of this baby for a bit.
Cheers!
Really interested in this jacket in that exact size. You’re done enough basking, get working on that dedicated thread!

Thanks for all the information.
Definitely going for shorter body and same sleeve length.
That half belt sold me on the leather.

I’ve got a semi-serious question. I have a search for Lawrence jackets set up on eBay. How in the heck do I set up the search so that all that I see isn’t a Cobra Kai jacket?!? Haha. Man, it’s annoying.

Would also like to hear a good answer here. Johnson Leathers gets a lot of hits for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knock off styles heh

I would remove at least 1" from the body, maybe a bit more.
IMO these jacket should be short, reaching around mid belt.
Actually, i would ask for -1.25" in the body to make sure i had at least 1" less.
Arms are fine, 0.25" won't make any difference.
