Michael you got me to really thinking about the works of Alfredo Rodriguez. But >$10,000 for an original painting, & even the prints of my favorites are sold out. Besides cowboys he seems to do a lot of mountain men, Native Americans, & prospectors as his subjects. Such great detail & use of lighting!

I know Jack , he has So Many Great Paintings , its tough to choose . After finding him and seeing his work nothing seemed as good , so I didn't want to just keep on , but ... . Hey did you spot the Australian Shepherd he painted ? I have several Artists in my family , and one's a Portrait Artist . The sign of a great Artist , especially Portrait Artist is capturing life and feeling at that special moment , the soul and essence of the person , like Mr King , but he uses light extremely well . And he's not a dead guy . I love the Grandpa making the stick horse for the children , the Grandpa reading the Bible to the children , the Mountain Men enjoying a little trappers Rendezvous (just a visit , not the big shebang), having a laugh . The detail of the portraits , and the Old Chief straightening up the eagle feathers in his Head Dress . ... I'd say originals are probably worth the $10,000 , but what are the prints going for when they're not Sold Out ? I guess they're limited additions , signed and numbered . Boy just one , or a few framed right , and placed in the right spot would be awesome pieces to display , and create an atmosphere . I think I had heard of him several years ago in Western Horseman or somewhere .

Georg Hering 1926. Hotel Spaander, Volendam, Holland. Have to see if I can find the exact name of the painting. Hering was a German painter who lived in Volendam for several years. Leendert Spaander was a hotel owner who encouraged artists to come to Volendam and allowed them to pay for their stay with artwork and even set up a studio for them in the hotel. He succeeded in establishing both his hotel and the town's name as a well known tourist destination. The local dress became so well known through all of the artwork done over the years, that it is now recognized as national dress. This painting still hangs in Hotel Spaander. It is of special interest because the local population do not consider hats part of the traditional dress, apart from the two hats on the right. Those were made of fur (horsefur if I'm correctly informed) and are similar to astrakan hats. This picrure is proof that other hats were worn as well, including a great stovepipe high hat.

Great ones Michael! In the 2nd one with the dog the man reminds me of a good friend who had a long goatee until he inexplicably shaved it off last wk. He said he wanted to start a full beard but admitted now it was a mistake. Good thing he didn't take scissors to his hair.

The detail in the 1st painting is incredible!
