Those are pretty sharp. Good to see some customs coming into people's hands again. The underwelt brims are growing on me, too. I've got some preferred specs I'd like to see on a VS someday. Believe me, if I ever do get a VS and like it, you will know it. :)

They look very casual and unforced on you, JZ. Those are 2 5/8 all around, right? Look good!
Yes, the steel felt fedora in these pics is 2 5/8" all around. The blue smoke paired with it has a slightly smaller brim at 2 3/8". But neither are dimensional brims.

Here's proof of an Art hat surviving the elements :D

Slushy and snowy in Boston this morning and I just got to the office.

Nice...I have no doubt this quality beaver felt will do just fine in the elements...even if I tend to want to treat my new hat like a new car and baby it at first! I've been wearing the steel fedora out in the relative cold of so. Cal. this week (low 40s am, low 50s pm) and it's perfect weather for it. More rain predicted on Thurs. and Sat. (thanks for bringing it back with your Dingus, Kaosharper1--we need it badly here), so perhaps I'll give it the rain test drive then.

Art, you're right, I love the 2 5/8...my only problem now is the heavy rain that so. Cal. is receiving this week. I know that these hats can survive the elements just fine...I just can't bring myself to expose them just yet! For now, the Fed IV beater will do...
...

Oh, you poor dear man... That rain has turned into a blizzard where I'm at!

Applause all around!

You know this could have an unwanted after-affect. If Art gets too busy then we will have to start waiting a year for a hat like with some other custom hatters we know. My last VS hat came to me in four weeks after I ordered it. Oh heck, Art is a good guy so let's help his business even if I do have to wait a year.:D

Sorry to dissapoint - no new hat, but I do get a feeling there are a lot of VS customs being boxed up and sent around the US and world in time for Xmas...I get a feeling this thread is gonna get pushed to the top of the forum a lot in just over a week....:D

Have you been watching ??? C'mon Dguy..where are you hiding? I could use the help :eusa_doh:
You're right Sir but please remember that only one of perhaps 15 get pictured here. It's been a fun season and I'm winding down this week. A few more over the next few days & I'm off for the rest of the year. The grand kids arrive on Friday so even if I wanted to get hat work done, it'll be darned near impossible.

Right now seems like a really good time to Thank everyone for supporting my insanity/passion the last few years. I am continually surprised and gratified by the reactions to my work from all of you. As always, you push me to learn new techniques, create new looks and to work with ribbon in ways that shall we say are "less than common". D'guy, you are one of the guys that really challenge me and I have to admit, I love it!!!

So, I'm sending out a great big "Happy Holidays" to everyone, hoping that life treats everyone well over the season and also hoping that every moment is enjoyed as they won't come around a second time.

I don't even care about the issue, but I was thrilled to be on the news wearing my hat!

Well, what was your opinion on the matter? lol The hat looked good on the tube!

I can't say that I'd seen a great number of Art's work before joining, but what I have seen, looks fantastic! I'm contemplating an order someday now.

There aren't a great number out there Randy but Thanks for the interest. I retired in '05 from my regular career & started this new career in '06 ( it was my hobby for many many years prior) so I haven't had that much time to put work out. I'd guess less than 1000 ( or thereabouts) since I went "public".

Last year, I had the great fortune of seeing one of Art's hat's in person. I IMMEDIATELY grasped I was looking at something way the f--k above any hat I had seen. It was that damn vintage ribbon I swear. Pulled my eye right in. You'll know when you see it.

I didn't have any hats at the time. Now I've got a collection.

Between the guy who was wearing that hat and I, we now have about 8 VS between us. So I feel very lucky to have seen much of Art's work.
It never fails to amaze me.

It's easy for me to spend your money, but if you're into fedoras, pull the trigger with Art when you can. You will never regret it.

Where does Art get that vintage ribbon? It's killer. His little rant about vintage ribbon on his web site isn't a bunch of marketing BS...he's knows his shyt.
