This granite lightweight from Art just arrived in the mail today. Crown is a little shorter than I typically like, but I think the overall vibe works well. I welcome the community's thoughts...

Although it is shorter than you typically like, I will say that it gives me the impression of an actual person in an actual hat from the era.

What that means is that although many of us like tall boxy crowns, and hunt for such hats, in many pictures of the 'average Joe,' he is wearing a slightly lower, less boxy design. At least, that's my impression, anyway.

You don't look 'dressed up' or costumey. It, along with the shirt, looks perfect on you, as if you've been wearing hats, in their native GE element, for years.

And that's a big compliment, afaic.

Here is my brand new VS Custom Milan by @Art Fawcett
I have to say that @Art Fawcett did a great job. It took a few tries to make the hat. The first time the hat crown was too short for the 2 1/4" Pug and Art was so kind to build another body. The brim is 2 1/2" wide. Crown is 4 1/2" in the Front, 5" side (highest) and 4" in the back.
Fits like a glove and came right on time for the first warm days here in Germany.

I'm not remotely close to your skill level Art, but I do enjoy the process and hopefully will continue to improve with practice. On the upside, I've found that Milan straw makes excellent tinder for the fireplace. Hah!

Hmmm. I remember that there was supposed have been a Milan come my way this last summer.

Good thing there’s another summer coming in a few months. :)
