J1; Really sharp fedora! Really sharp fedora! The phrase just keeps rearing up in my mind when I scope the pics of your new hat.

The thin ribboned hat in light weight felt will make a splendid warm weather versatile classy lid. The stly

I have the light weight hats with the vents (granite/dove) and without (silverbelly). To my head the vents do make a small difference. On the same day, I have worn the light weight hat (with liner removed) without vents I have some condensation on top of my head and with vents no condensation. Perhaps this was unique to this moment. It certainly does not prove anything. Perhaps other VS folks who wear the light weights with vents in warmer weather can comment to their experiences.

J1, you are a man ready to travel in style. The hat is a Classic American style. When I see your hat I see 1940's-1950's.

Wear it knowing you are looking sharp, Eric -

Jaunty; I'll join the chorus, great looking hat!!! I've got an Art Lite on order, Sahara, 2 3/4 brim, bound edge, with the vent holes. This will be my first VS and I'm very excited to say the least. And I have to tell you sir, you have done a lot to inspire me to go with the light weight felt. This new Silverbelly of yours is a beautiful hat and I love the ribbon work. Another great choice sir and more great work Art!

here's a little story for you Art Fawcett hat owners -

several months back I lost this porkpie Whiskey 2-3/8 brim creation...

you can't imagine the angst I felt upon realizing I've somehow managed to lose one of my VS's. I searched everywhere in the house, in my cars, my friends house, my dad's place, restaurants I thought I might have left it at. I couldn't find it.

I even kept an eye out for it at thrift shops, and figured there ain't no way someone can walk around this town without my spotting it. It was quite the bummer.

But imagine after months of what I thought was a methodical checkdown on where it might be, finding it tonight in one of my hat boxes by chance! Jeez Louise, I must be be losing my mind!

What a rollercoaster ride. You can't imagine how far down one can go thinking they've lost a VS. But now it is back in action! Whew.

I'll bet that was a huge weight off of your shoulders!
My first custom VS arrived in town today but we missed the mailman and he took it back to the post office which is closed tomorrow!!! CRUD
I scheduled a re- delivery though and hopefully that will do the trick and it will show up tomorrow (fingers crossed)

Now I know that the photo will upload here are a couple more after I lightly steamed in the crease. Excellent creation by Art. I could not be happier. The feel of this felt is something else, shaped really easily compared to other hats I own including some from the 60,s.

Thanks Art;)

Hi Blackthorn,
it is a copy of a Stetson Special featured in the pre 40's Stetson thread on the Lounge.
Art did a superb job of copying the hat from the picture I showed him. It is on page 403 of this thread.
