These photos are from the camera in my MacBook, so the color isn't really coming out. This hat is gorgeous.

Beautiful hat, Jbucklin (and Art)!

I'm in line and 95% sure to be going Whiskey. Thanks for the indirect affirmation! Must stop reading this thread now so the Dove urge subsides - at least for awhile.

Nice hat JB. I have a whiskey too, your whiskey shots appear to have a yellow cast and are somewhat darker (on my computer screen) than my Whiskey felt is in actuality. I realize everyone's screens are different, but still nice hat.

Is that ribbon on the right side?

OK- got the conformer yestreday, sending it back today. I have a pretty good idea of the style I want, now it's down to colors.
Anyone out there have any pics of something done in the Charcoal shade? Love to see it-

Brief post......only got a minute.

Art if you are out there, I AM IMPRESSED! Thanks sir for accepting me as a client. I am in line for another!

I stopped by the USPS office and picked up my first VS fedora. My time is limited as I have a meeting in a couple minutes and I barely had time to carefully remove the hat from it's protective packaging. I will try to capture the hat's features and details and post up later.

For now:

Sahara, 2.5" brim with Fawcett signature ribbon is FINE!

Ed, Josh and Al; Thanks guys. I take great credence in your opinions and appreciations.

I have not had a lot of personal and up-close time with my new hat. Initial observations are that the beaver felt is just the richest stuff I have yet to come upon. More to come on the feel and texture. The lighter felts have been touted as being lighter and more malleable. This info I give another thumbs up as my experience with this hat. The fit - ohhhhh that is how a hat is supposed to fit. I pulled the hat out of the clever box and initially I thought the hat fit loose. After wearing for my 1.5 hour drive/meeting/drive this morning I find it fitting snuggly and totally comfortable.

More to come.

Eric - I think you hit on the main point for me with Art's hats - comfort. I've got modern Stetsons, Akubras, Dobbs, and a few others. When I put them on, I am acutely aware of their presence the whole time I'm wearing them. When I put on a VS (or Tumwater, or Optimo-redone vintage), I forget pretty quickly that I have a hat on. Part of it is the custom sizing, to be sure, and the excellent beaver felt. For me, I think the greatest difference is the sweatband. Art, TonyB and Optimo all use the finest leather sweats, in nice wide sizes. For me it makes all the difference, and all other modern sweatbands feel like cardboard in comparison. I'm grateful the desert is finally getting cool enough to wear felt, so I can get my Fawcett creation out more often. You got a great hat, and it suits you well. Frank
