The fruit is Persimmon - autumn fruit here, fresh off the tree. Right about the Hat though!

These two hats came in about a week or so apart and they're both absolutely fantastic hats. What's great about Mr. Fawcett to me is not that he's good, but that he's consistently good. I have never seen a bad hat by this man and I don't believe I ever will.

Black Cherry Fedora with matching Ribbon and Art bow. The Black Cherry is very similar to the Oxblood Optimo furfelt i find. Great coloring, goes with anything. I blame all you folks who've bought Black Cherry hats and posted them here. Black Cherry to me is probably about the best color you could own. If I could only own one hat, it would have to be Black Cherry.

This may just be my favorite hat for some time to come. Natural with Red Ribbon. I have wanted a light colored hat with a red ribbon for a while and this one came out spot on to what I saw in my head.
Lastly, I love these Art bows. They make his hats unique in the market. Brilliant craft work.

If I may ask, could you compare black cherry to oxblood with regards to the amount of red under different lighting conditions? From Art's color swatches, and searching this thread the two appear very close, with black cherry a shade darker than oxblood.

Better Pics Of Granite Satin Finish

At the risk of redundancy, I am posting some additional photos of my granite satin finish VS fedora to hopefully contribute to the wealth of excellent reference photos on this thread.

My hat stylistically incorporates elements of Art's Sportaire and pays homage to the Stetson Whippet.

Crown: 4-1/2" at the very front, rising to 5" at the apex, and tapering to 3-1/2" at the rear.

Ribbon: 1-3/4", 22 ligne, if I am not mistaken. Art selected the ribbon color and burgundy color accent for the bow.

Brim: 2-5/8".

Granite, as has often been noted, is a very versatile color, which, under different ambient light, assumes a palette ranging from gray, to light sage, to taupe.




Under early morning, direct sunlight, indoors. Art's wonderful, short-hair satin finish with its subtle sheen seen to good effect here.

The leather sweatband has a richness and texture that is truly a pleasure to behold, and feels great on the head too. Art's selection for the satin lining illustrates his consumate taste, and was exactly what I envisioned.

I thought I liked Whiskey color, now I think Granite might be better suited for me. (or both?)

I have gone from pecan to granite, to natural, to whiskey, and now back to pecan! Ultimately how I decided is I removed the felt samples that I liked from the card and kept them in my pocket ALL THE TIME! Every now and then I would take them out and look at them up against my wardrobe and in varying light conditions (sunrise, sunset, shaded, indoors, fluorescent, etc. etc.). Gradually I weened them down until I got a winner and (this time) its pecan!!!
