...that is going to be your hat size- I would place it where you want your hat to sit on your head...

Considering all my hats sit differently on my head, this sounds like a daunting task. I can, however, think of at least two or three that seem to sit better than others.

A path to follow... Thanks for the advice, Dguy.

Thanks for the photo, Aureliano.

That's one of the screwiest things I've ever seen. :D

Just a hint, Sir...that is going to be your hat size- I would place it where you want your hat to sit on your head...it seems it`s slanting back too much. Just my opinion for what it`s worth...maybe I`m wrong...But, what a great start! You`ll enjoy the ride!

Thanks D-guy. That's how I usually wear my hats but, after a comparison wit a hat on, my wife agreed with you. Just adjusted it a bit higher.

Agreed. I measured too high on my head and my first was way too small. I had to stretch it out quite a lot. If you are like me it should go down on the forehead more and then back around that "bump" on the back of your skull. Anyway, that was my mistake the first time.

Thanks gents for the tips. Didn't take another pic but I positioned it higher up in the same exact place where the back of my hats rest. The conformer is already on its way back to Art. If anything, if it was still too low, the hat might end up a notch bigger. I doubt it as I triple checked. But if it is it won't be the end of the world. Better slightly bigger than smaller.

When I did the conformer, I was debating with myself on where to place it for over an hour. Nerve wracking thing, this $300 measurement is! I finally got it to where I felt it was best, a bit higher than where Aureliano had his in the picture. I actually had more troubles with the tape measure, though. At first, I had it too big, then too small, then too big again, then finally just told him the standard measurement for 7 1/8. Poor Art; I changed the measurement on him four times!

I think the whole shebang gets way easier with a second person helping. :D

I know this post is a bit old, but I believe it is worthy of another look. St. Ignatz, that hat is you! The wide brim combined with the blue smoke hat and the grey beard and bluish eyes. It is nice to see a hat compliment someones looks so well. I am sure you must be getting some great compliments when wearing it. If that is not your favorite hat, it should be. Congratulations on a great look.

Hey Scott, are you still with us? You must be flat out if you can't muster the energy to sport that hat.

I like that hat. It is neat in more than one way. Beautiful color on my computer monitor. What color is that?

Get well...
