Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

My glacier is finally in hand. It arrive last Saturday, but this was as soon as I could pick it up. I told Art that I wasn’t afraid of bold colors and asked for a 2 3/4” bound brim brim and 6” open crown. I left everything else up to him. I had no idea what ribbon and binding or bow treatment Art selected until I opened the box.

First, it’s definitely lighter and less blue than blue smoke, at least the most recent version of blue smoke.

The finish is a bit like short suede/antelope and it has a great hand. The felt is dense and the brim is relatively firm and the crown is relatively soft. The 2” wide ribbon gives it a more vintage look to my eye. To be honest, I was expecting something bolder, but in the hour or so I’ve had it I’ve come to appreciate that it’s striking for its subtleties and not by being ostentatious. This is the most generous sized of all my VS hats and fits the best of them all.

In shade:

The crease will get refined next week when I have more time.

Very impressive Brent. I also asked for 6" x 2-3/4" specs on my glacier fedora. Your crown ribbon looks bronze with a dark navy highlight... is that right? Looks great, but I don't trust my monitor to show true colors at all anymore.

My version of the VS Executive. I thought the Glacier felt (one of only a dozen made) deserved a pastel companion 1 inch Lavender ribbon and gills bow. The 2 1/2 brim is right in my sweet spot, too. The color is what I would call powder blue or baby blue although in low light it carries a gray cast. Thank you, Art, another exceptional hat!

I really like how the lavender ribbon works with the glacier felt. Maybe a tall crown, wide brimmed Playboy-ish clone for me with this vintage ribbon. Hmmmm....

Whew!!! I always worry when I'm given free reign Brent. I don't normally do a wide ribbon for you so I thought it was time. Not everyone would like the lavender/grey toned ribbon and is really rare. I believe the ribbon itself is as old as I am.

Thanks. A Playboy clone was my first target but I could not get passed the good looks of Eric's Executive hats with gills, so that is the direction I chose. Mine is very much a light pastel. The indoor pics I posted really over-do the blue and purple. The outdoor pics are much more representative of the actual colors. Thanks again, Art.

According to Art, the ribbon is vintage lavender/gray. The bow highlight is a vivid blue.

Absolutely gorgeous hat, Doug. I think the narrower ribbon accentuates the height of the crown. A great last VS.

I was lucky enough to get in the queue in time. My first VS has just arrived

Quite more stiff than I would prefer (maybe a couple of more details that are only noticeable if you spend a lot of time in FL )
but overall very happy with my purchase
