Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

Thought it might be cool to share this here.
The motivation behind my VS order was to capture the spirit of an old late '30s Mallory that I have.... not to copy it exactly ... but to simply capture the essence of it.
I wanted the crown taller and a bound edge instead of a welt.
the VS. is not as light in color as it looks here

Thank you for the comments Gents and Thank you for the praise Moon. As an aside, I could not have welted this if I had to. I barely made the 2 3/4 as is and welting requires an additional 3/8"

Congrats! on your first VS then!

I emailed Art about a hat, something in ArtLite beaver felt, something off-white (bone, ivory, silverbelly or silvermist) with a burgundy ribbon and bow and dark navy highlight in the knot. I like your removable satin liner, and I also asked about the star shaped vents he makes on the sides. Art won't keep making hats forever, so I figure I better get a nice one from him while I can.

I sooooo love his dark moss felt, too...

DOVE... is perfecto... check that out and I agree that Dark Moss is a fantastic hat color ' specially in the light of day...I'm working on Number 10 coming up...

I just spoke to Art. The order is in! Now the hard part: waiting!

I could easily order a dozen hats from Art and every single one would be different and gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping into the thread Nik, always good to see the combos that work with different colors. Dove is pretty darned versatile

That's what I always say. Dove works with pretty much any suit color including browns, greens and the rare pastel shades.

You CAN Mm, it just takes time to find it, then enough money to buy it.. It helps in vintage to be small also. Most of my life I was 36 to 38 reg so I could find a lot of good quality suits and I'm sure Rabbit is in that neighborhood. Bigger guys have it rougher
