I backed into the Wanderer specs myself, wanting the bound edge of an OR with the ribbon treatment of a Playboy. When I described what I had ordered from Art, Jimmy the Lid sent me the print ad for the Wanderer, as he was thinking of a custom set up like that too.
It fits right in there for not too casual but not too dressy, IMHO...

Tom, that is what I wanted too. Something not too casual and not too dressy. I put a cattleman's crease in most of my hats so this is my "city" hat :)

A true long hair, eh? Would that be Art's velour finish you're referring to, tridentine?

Casechopper's VS Powderblue "Max" is totally worth a re-post. These are probably the best images of Art's scratch finish I've seen on the forum. No, not just probably. They are the best ones.

Next to the VS Sunset "Carlota" which is the suede finish as seen on most VSs:

Hello and thanks for all the images

Hello All,

I have been lurking around for a bit and figured it was time I jumped in and started typing. I really appreciate all your photos as I am the process of getting a couple hats from Art and it is so much easier to see the colors in the photos then with the little swatches alone. I will post some photos of my own in the not to distant future and once again thanks.

uh oh Tridentine, what I made was a scratch finish ( as Rabbit and others call it) but in order to get the peluche or extra long hair the body has to be made differently, using extra long hair to start with. I did not get this done and will not in the future as far as I can see so I need to be clear here. If you wanted the extra long, I'm sorry, miscommunication on my part.

My thoughts precisely...

The long hair of the olden days was an entirely different process.
