Thanks, guys! I'll post pics of it on the old bean tomorrow. Art has really outdone himself on this one; I can't express just how happy I am with it. If anyone gets some extra Christmas cash, I encourage you to go for a black-cherry light. (sounds like a drink!)

VS Lightweight Silverbelly

Below is my most recent hat from Art. I just received it yesterday and it got plenty of head time on Christmas Eve. It is a combination of the features I like most about a Stetson Open Road and a Stetson Playboy. The felt is lightweight Silverbelly with vent holes and a removable liner. The brim is 2 3/4" and the silver ribbon is 7/8", which is wide for me. It has a matching brim binding and a wind trolley. Once again, my pictures don't do it justice. The hat is beautiful and the shot of the underside shows the felt color the best. Thanks Art and Merry Christmas everybody.

Wow, Mike, you are going to have to build an addition for putting all your hats! (Of course, I have some room and a willing head in case you need some to spare)?!?

Fitting name for beautiful hats, "Art" Fawcett, they are really art work!

Daniel,

I definitely need to thin my vintage herd some because I'm running out of room to store them. I've found myself wearing Art's hats a lot more than I do some of my vintage hats. I think that might be my New Year's Resolution. I'm going to go through all of them and send some to Art for his veteran's program next year and then sell the ones that don't fit quite right or I just don't wear much. Since we are the same size if I have anything I think you might like I'll let you know. Merry Christmas.

Thanks guys.

Jauntyone, the vent holes are a neat feature. I can't really tell if they do much because I leave my liners in but they certainly look old school and I think they make the hat stand out as a custom. Your hat looks great. The profile view of it is classic.

Just got my featherweight black cherry for Christmas today. Man, it is difficult to photograph! So, just a fore-warning, the photos do not come close to doing it justice!

Art, as far as I'm concerned, this is your Mona Lisa. The felt is extremely soft and the color is perfect, especially with the dark maroon ribbon. The only problem is, the felt is SO pliable, it has trouble holding a crease. :D ;) That said, it isn't so much a down side as a mixed blessing, because I love really floppy felt. Art, I think every hat I buy from you in the future will probably be featherweight. -M

ps. for anyone wondering, the shirt I'm wearing is a Deckard Apparel Paramount Collar in Vintage Multi-stripe, and the suit is a 1950's vintage Oxxford suit, courtesy of Chasseur.

Thanks so very much, I think you know at least one I would welcome back home...(lol)! But do what you can and let me know what is available. I have to figure at least pulling the trigger on one hat from Art..I already know what color and all that, thanks to you!

Merry Christmas to you as well!

The question about the properties of Art's lightweight felts has come up again on another thread, so here's a video with the crease tutorial which has been posted before.
