One of my favorites, OG.

If I were to get another black hat - probably wouldn't because I wouldn't wear often - I'd blatantly copy yours.

Thanks David,

So I guess I had better keep it locked up if you ever venture into Pittsburgh ;)

One of my favorites also but I , like you, have found I don't wear the Black Hats as much as I thought I would..... Still wouldn't trade either of them.............

Accident - my VS went into the lake just an hour ago. The dogs and I were playing on the dock. I throw the fetching dummy into the water and my PWD's eagerly jump in, swim and retrieve. This "play" is part of our water work for water trial testing. We continue right up to when the ice forms on the lake the dogs to "play"/practice. As you imagine my VS "jumped" off my head, when my dogs and I were tussling before another retrieve and went into the drink - the lake. It went far enough for me to consider having the dogs fetch the hat. I thought about how to impress upon the dogs to be gentle when picking the hat up in their mouths and reconsidered. I removed my shoes, jumped in and fetched the hat. By now the hat was 1/2 submerged. I shook the hat brushed the leather band off, put it back on my head. I needed to pick up the dogs and my toys, put them away, and head in to check out the consequences.

I quickly treated the leather and warmed up my steamer. I brushed the felt of any particles. Then I started on the steaming of the open crown bucket VS hat. Here are a couple of pics after steaming/creasing whilst it is drying. I hope it drys swiftly and without any color spots. I hope.

The hat takes a dunking and keeps on trucking. When it is completely dry I will ammend the post.

Clothes changed and finally dry and warm after the cold water wade, Eric -
I think this stands as an excellent example of a nice and sturdy lid... And more important, the tenacity of a true hat lover!

The "Stendahl"

Introducing the "Stendhal." I asked Art to replicate the hat in this picture of Earl Stendahl, a famous art dealer in the 20s:

He did a great job. The hat is in black cherry with a 2 5/8" brim and a 5 5/8" crown. The crease is kind of a cattleman's crease but the brim is natural and turned down. I couldn't get a decent noggin shot, but here's what I got:

BarnStormer!

This is my latest VS. I'd been lusting after The BarnStormer since it was first introduced. I wasn't so sure about the thin ribbon, but finally pulled the trigger. I could not be happier. n00b posting here, hope it lays out well.

Aught; Absolutely "No Trouble in River City!" The thin ribbon is sharp. That hat is dynamite looking.

The dimensions sir are very classic. I have been wearing my versions of the barnstormer (mostly the same w/different ribbon) around town and country the past couple of months. I get many folks stopping what they are doing and commenting on the fedora. I have gotten comments from my wife's horse friends, former corp. america workmates of mine, travelers and many others. The point is that the style crosses many situations and occasions.

Aught, now you just have to have the fedora in many more of the colored hat felts. ;):D

Sharp lid. Good pics. I enjoy the coffee can, but not sure that coffee would beat my fav blend. Eric -

Kao; Congrats to you and Art for making your vision become a reality. Excellent. Your fedoras span quite a variety of styles. I enjoy your courageous style sir. Eric -
