Nice hat MD!

Hey guys, if I were to order a hat from Art today, I'd just have to go with the Ivory felt. Just love that!

Thanks DJH.
I really love what Art has done for me and for all the people that have had the pleasure of receiving a hat made him.

I recently just took a pic of this hat along with a Whippet (in the whippet thread) and a Cavanagh. I really need to expand into different colors!

OK guys. I'm working with Art on a custom hat.

I think someone here needs to make up a website that we can enter our name in. Then it will create a page and an email that says we won some sort of contest. Top prize - a custom hat from Art. We show that to our wives and we're free and clear to get the hat! :p

Ok guys. I'm going with the one VS instead of the two Akubras.

Art is mailing me some felt samples.

I do want a light color as this will be a summer hat. Most likely will be an artlite. However, I really like how the full liners look as opposed to the small liner patches of the lite hats I've seen in this thread. Would it be totally counter productive to get an artlite with a full liner?

Besides my panama, this will be my only light colored hat. It will have to be my daily hat from mid June to September. What color would be the most versital?

Glad to hear you're making the plunge; you won't be sorry. As far as which color is most versatile, that's really a personal choice. Of the Artlite colors available, focusing on the lighter colored ones, my wife and I picked out the Silvermist as most versatile within my wardrobe.

One of my personal favorites is "Sunset", an absolutely beautiful color, but it's not a lightweight felt. Good luck on your final choice.

I have a artlite silverbelly with a silver band that is very versatile. His silverbelly is not beige like Stetsons. It's really a greyish white.

You can get a full liner in the lite felt no problem. I'd guess that most people get the full liner. I like the little tippet but that's just my personal preference.

BANG! That's the sound of me finally pulling the trigger for the first time on ordering one of Arts hats. It took me long enough. I can hardly wait! It probably means I'll be scouring this thread for the millionth time to decide on whose hat I want to shamelessly rip-off. lol!

While I dont have a hat to post, I do have a semi story.

I have always been the "odd guy" I wear newsboy hats, I shave with a straight razor, and have worn fedoras of various types that have never fit me correctly. I have a big noggin and usually fedoras tend to fit a bit tight and leave an imprint on my forehead. They also tend to mess up my hair and I usually end up pushing the middle part out with my head when I wear them. I am a bigger guy, so wearing vintage clothes is a no go, so I usually wear my fedoras with jeans/button shirt and some black shoes.

So about two days ago, I decided to have Art make a hat for me. I figured he could help me out with a few of my issues, in which he assured me he could. I should have my mold by this Saturday.

It may be bland, but I think im going to go with a black hat for my first hat, and in all honesty, I may order a granite right off the bat. Im still not sure what type of hat I would like. I have a Stetson Temple, and a Dobbs Dutton. Both are great hats (that dont fit right). Would it be wrong of me to have Art make two identical hats in different colors? I am thinking of leaving the black without a ribbon edge, and having the granite with the ribbon edge. What to do, what to do. I am going to provide him, and maybe you all with some pictures so you can see what type of brim would suit me. I prefer the smaller Temple/Dutton size. I have another that is just way to broad of a brim. I do plan on going with a teardrop shape though.

Ill keep you all updated.

Issac - Good luck with your new purchase. I'm in the same starting phase as you.

Thanks everyone for their input. I'm just waiting for my felt samples now.

Can't wait to get started! I've been pouring through this multi-year thread looking at every photo. There's a lot to see! You guys have designed some great hats.

There are a great deal of hats that I have fallen in love with here. There is one member that I might borrow his style, as it would suit me. Now, the bows have my head spinning. I dont know what in the world I am going to do pattern wise. I am going to go Black/Black and Granite/Black but dont know what type of bow to go with or any accent colors.
