Vintage Knox Dove Gray from Art Fawcett 10 years ago. This is a VINTAGE hat.

I have a Knox Superfine, in Dove Gray, it has the lavender liner, and the slightly lavender brim edge. The crown ribbon is slightly silver/gray, the hat body is a true dove color. Guess who I got this hat from in 2000? Yes, Art. Oh, and I paid $85. I forgot I had this beauty.

Proudly Presenting...

The September, Opus 9

I am happy to announce the arrival of my second hat from the venerable Art Fawcett... Sunset, 5 1/2" crown, 2 1/2" brim with a 3/8" ribbon binding. The ribbon's focal point is a series of 7 slanted pleats, which is a much harder feat to achieve than it appears. Much brainstorming was put into this design, both by myself and Art. He was finally able to make my vision come true. The color is for the most part, poorly represented by my camera. The ribbon is silver with mildly pronounced brown undertones. The lining is a rich dark purple, of Art's choosing.

I gave Art a fair amount of direction for this one, as I had a very specific vision in mind for its creation. I wanted a dressy, formal hat that was reminiscent of the 1920's; one that was simple, and served to display both Art's fine finishing skills, and his way with ribbon design. I think he nailed it. So, without further ado, I present The September, Opus 9...

Liner Shot

I think a simple center dent does it for this one.

Click the pictures for a larger image. I'll post the link to the album in another post. There's some more pictures to come either tonight or tomorrow.

I'm pretty tickled with this one, myself. What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Wow, that ribbon's amazing! Is that going to be one of your limited edition offers, Art? -M

(gulp)...I don't think so Mulceber..I have very little hair left as it is after this one.)) I never would have thought it would be SO difficult to do slanted pleats, but it is. The end result is cool but I'm not anxious to tackle it again soon.

Art, I really do love it! :) I know it was a hassle, but I think the results are well worth it, and are very much appreciated! You outdid yourself on this one; thanks for putting so much time into it (and for putting up with the grey hairs I am certain this project left you with!) Just wanted to let you know I'm thrilled with it, since I didn't email you back when I received it.

Cheers,

Thanks Flute, only you can imagine how much wasted ribbon I went through to get this result. I'm really glad you are pleased.
Rusty, I spoke to Richard last week & he's making up some grey's and naturals for me. I already have chocolate and while I was in Ca for Christmas I found some fabric that I sent off to make pugs out of so, I think we are going to be busy this summer!!!

Ah ok, yeah, makes sense. No need to drive yourself nuts at this trade. The world doesn't need another mad hatter. -M

Art let me know if you can get a wide, light colored pug for the milan's. I want another blue one, this time with a little shorter brim than the first.

Gent's , I am working on a Dove for D'guy that will most likely also be a Limited Edition and has had consented to introducing it for me. I think you will still enjoy it when he gets it.

Can you tell I'm excited?

Waiting for a normal hat is tough enough....but this one may not see me last that long!!!

Art, why did you select me!!?? -)))))

I asked Art to design and make me an Adams Majestic Clone in Silver Mist. I think he knocked it out of the park.

Look at that beauty! Just the right amount of brim curl, a tall crown and a rakish slope. The liner and perforated sweatband bring it together, and the two buttons on the ribbon are just icing on the cake. Love it! :eusa_clap
