Art Fawcett beauty

This is Art's "Sportaire" model, in dark moss. Pure beaver. Diamond bash. 7 5/8. Note the neat red vertical stripe in the bow.
This hat has never been worn outside the house. A high, relatively untapered crown just doesn't work on me.
You all know what the hat cost:$305, plus shipping. I will sell for $220, shipping included, no waiting time. That's a hundred bucks off. Comes in Vintage Silhouette box.

If it were smaller (a 7 3/8 or even a 7 1/2) I'd go for it. It's a beauty.

Have you thought of just giving it a deep 1930s style crease if it's the height that's the problem? I did that with my Jazzman. It has a 6" crown, but I creased it down to 4 3/8" in the front, 5" on the sides and 4" in the back.

I probably asked this the last time it was up, but with my memory I could be thinking of a totally different hat.

Do you have the actual measurement of the sweatband? Or your head measurement and a description of how it feels on your head?

I have done this once or twice myself...it works out just fine. Done the opposite as well - taken a deep diamond out of a hat and put a center dent in to make the crown much higher.

Inside measurement

23 and just a hair under three-quarters of an inch around the inside. Sits perfectly just above my ears. I am not a long oval. Felt is quite soft, Art suggested the diamond bash and I took his suggestion.
And thanks for all the suggestions, you guys, but I consulted the master, Graham Thompson, and his view is that the hat, for all that it is a fine hat, is a high-crown, no-taper hat and nothing is going to change that.

I'm considering it, but my CD player may need replacing if it can't be fixed. If I can avoid that expense, I'll be dropping you a PM next week. (But don't hold it just for me, by any means).

Unfortunately it's too big for me (plus I'm more a grey than a green person) but could you post a picture from above or behind to show the diamond bash? I'm currently looking for good pictures of these as I'm having quite a few opportunities to crease my new fedora with all the rain it's getting and a bash done by Art must be quite good.

So, no longer for sale. Thanks to all who looked.
