Arrgh. Graphite

Gents, do any of you have any suggestions on how to remove a graphite mark from a Silverbelly hat? Long story on how it got there. It came from a number 2 pencil.

Um hmmm. Eraser sponge, though I don't want you to smear the mark, I think it is the best bet.

Please note...I have NEVER tried this...however., "art" erasers that look like gray playdough don't leave a residue and pick up graphite very well. You might want to test it on the inside of a "beater" hat first though.

Use one of these, easier on the felt and won't leave a residue.

Mega Pascals of applied pressure will transition the graphite to diamond which can be easily brushed off the hat.
