Army Officer Trouser questions

I have a pair of Officer Dress Trousers date stamped 1949. They are a grayish color. I was wondering if these are close enough to pass as a ww2 era uniform item. Also if they do, what color dress shirt would go with it. Also, from my Marine Corps experience, we didnt have a cuff on the paint legs of our dress uniforms. Did they used to have them back then?

Some of the "pinks and greens" actually have a greyish tint. If they are are 1940s era Army officer pants they would be right. The Army didn't change uniforms until it went to the "pickle suit" in the 1950s. Don't think the Army ever cuffed pants.

thanks, I was looking at some reproduction uniform pictures and it looks to be the "pinks" Im happy because they only cost me 10 bucks for unissued un hemmed with original quartermaster tags. The good repros are spendy. would these have only been worn by Army officers or would AAF officers have worn them also?

Yes they would have been worn by US Army and USAAF officers as the uniform, apart from the Crusher caps and insignia was the same until the early 1950s, when the USAF blue uniform was introduced. Your pinks would look great with olive drab shade no. 51 or the light drab shade no. 54. They also wore the khaki shade No. 1.

He didn't set much store by the haircut regulations, either, it seems.

From my military expireience, a Lt Col can pretty much do what ever he wants. Thanks for the help guys I'll start looking for a correct olive drab shirt with tie.

Question, note how baggy the pants are, if your a 34, would you take a 36 waist? I mean not tight but to get that baggy, extra leg room look [huh]

My WWII chinos are cut full despite being my actual waist- my 28x30 pants are a 28 waist. The difference is that they are full through the seat and legs.

I've been wondering about that, all the khaki's I've had have been too tight at the waist, and too low, I need authentic era chinos, Thanks Mr. Rover.
