Are you modest on the beach or will you wear a bikini?

I've never been comfortable in a swimsuit, even when young and trim on the local swim team, until I got an Esther Williams sheath. Even though my second EW suit is a couple sizes larger than my first, I love it.

I wear both a swimsuit or a bikini, both repro fifties styles i picked up along the way. Much more flattering and glamourous i think for all shapes and sizes. I also like a sarong or a man's shirt as a cover-up as i seem to have cellulite with some thighs attached to it, (sigh).

I'm afraid my days of running down the beach in a string bikini are long gone too and i wouldn't want to scare any children or small amimals!

I used to wear tankinis (when i was in middleschool and high school) but now I wear fifties-styled one pieces. I'd like to wear a fifties styled bikini but only if I can try it on before buying it... I've never seen any in person!

I used to swim and I can't stand any suit that doesn't adequately stay on when really swimming. I do wear a bikini top around the house with shorts when it hits 95F degrees or more, just because it is too humid and we do not have AC.

After having my first little darling I gained around 90lbs and two more little darlings later  I have only managed to drop 40lbs so bikinis are but a distant memory. I wear a very basic don't-look-at-me black swimsuit and stay in the water lol

I currently have a 50s inspired halterneck tankini and bottoms. it's pretty nice and a bit more forgiving now that I've managed to grow about 2 dress sizes! But when I was a bit slimmer I wore a bikini. Mind you, when I'm not in the water I like to wrap up in a sarong! I can't wear swimsuits at all, because my torso is too long! :eusa_doh:

Sarongs are fabulous, wonderful things that I just couldn't be without! On holiday though I wear a sheer kaftan-type top, which when worn with a huge hat and equally huge sunglasses, make me feel glamorous enough that I forget I'm in a swimsuit

Somehow, I find this wool bathing suit sexier than a bikini. [huh]

I'm Christian so I tend to stay more on the modest side. Which is a large part of the reason I love vintage styles, most of it is much more covered up. Last summer I just wore a one piece with a black shirt and high waisted polka dot shorts over top. This summer I was maybe thinking about ordering this pattern from Wearing History: http://www.wearinghistorypatterns.com/products/1940s-Bathing-Beauty-Swimsuit-Pattern.html
It looks very nice and covered up enough for my taste. :)

I don't lay around in the sun, but I love to swim. We have a summerhouse in the archipelagio outside Stockholm and though not exactly ON the neach, it only takes me two minutes to go there. So I usually just put on a bathrobe over my swimsuit and go and have my swim and then go straight up to the house after. But I was never much for wearing bikinis, even when I was slim and trim. In my teens it was very in to go topless but I hated that and never did.

However, in the evenings when the beach is deserted, I love to skinny dip, but only if no one is around. :)

I have a great swimsuit by Esther Williams

Love this swimsuit!
This picture is 2 years old and I'm actually smaller now, so I think I'll try a bikini (50's style, like the girl in the background)this summer, haven't worn one since.. I was 18 or something.
I have my grandmother's swimsuit from the fiftires and the cut is just the same! Only mine is dark blue. And, sadly, I can't wear it anymore.
