Apparently, straw hats don't have snap brims

I hate looking in on these threads! :)

T Rick, I've sent you a couple of emails....please respond.
Bob, very sorry I missed your earlier email, I've just responded to the most recent. Busily getting ready for a surprise trip, took a temporary job offer in South Florida (where the hats would really come in handy!) and if possible, may have you ship them there. I'm leaving Sat. AM and starting work on Monday.

Thanks for the quick contact and great service, looking forward to hearing back from you.

Nice looking Cabalero's ! I still cannot get used to the dyed Panama's :) Guess I'm a traditionalst as I want that "Panama Look" of the cream/white straw which sets them apart from all the rest :) Still two more FINE hats from PB !

and STILL Onward thru the ICE :)

I ordered one of the brown ones just so I could wear something other than the traditional color (which all of my other straws were) because I wear straws so often in Orlando. I now have the same brown one and also a Milan on the way.

I was not saying the brown was not nice, it is, I'm just not used to seeing Panama's in a color !! Is that a dk. brown band on it ? It all does look natural, more so than I thought it would :) We are supposed to get SNOW this afternoon and tonight ! I'm gonna need to brush up on my Spanish if we keep getting winters like this :)

Now Onward thru the SNOW :)

Yes it has a dark brown band. I would love a grey old if they made it. But that's what a Milan hat is for. But Hey PB a grey model would look great with a black band. I have seen Black Panama's online but black is such a winter color.

I think I did see a gray one on his auction page a little while back but I may be remembering something else.

I sent Panama Bob a couple of emails with some general questions but never received any response. Since his "sale" hats are selling fast I bit the bullet and ordered a size 7 1/2 white Cuencano; one of the only white ones left in my size. We'll see.

.....or at least cheap ones don't. In my attempts to lure warmer weather to the Midwest by getting my hats ready, I worked on this cheapie today. The brim was turned up all the way around and there was no way to get the front of the brim down. So I applied some water, turned it down and dried it with a hair drier. I think it worked out OK.

First, the Wx. Since speeding it up for us Northerners didn't seem to be working that well, I went extreme, and took myself to the weather! I accepted a short term employment in Southern Florida, where I will hopefully spend the rest of the Winter :D.

I think your hat came out looking really good too. And my temporary move South was timed just right, as my own Panama Bob's Specials hadn't been shipped yet, and I was able to divert them to my hotel down here. Arrived two days ago (pics forthcoming, 3 hats total), and I couldn't be happier with them! While like yours, my brims don't "snap", they were rather easy to shape in a bit of a downward "curl", and I think a bit of steam (more incentive to buy a steamer!) will work wonders there. For now, I brought two felt hats, but with temps from the 70's to the 80's, I've worn no other brimmed hats (hard hat excluded) since the arrival of the Panama's.

Check your spam box. I answer each email that comes. I spend an enormous amount of time answering questions and I'm sorry that you didn't get to read my replies. Some day, I'll change all of the email links to robert@panamas.biz because it seems that panamaecuador@yahoo.com goes straight to spam boxes.

It isn't your fault or your email address. Spam blockers intercept over 30% of all emails that aren't spam. It is one of the most serious problems in E-business.

No emails (from robert@panamas.biz) in my spam folder either. I actually sent it again to you a few minutes ago, just to verify. Anyhow, it is a moot point. I did order a white Cuencano from you before they sold out and received it yesterday. As others have said, it is a very nice hat that belies it's $9.99 price! A perfect fit and nice look for me (if I do say so myself!). I can see ordering an even "nicer" one from you come spring/summer.

Thanks for the fast shipping as well!

Does anyone know how the colouration of Panama Bob's on-sale fedoras in the Teardrop and Caballero designs compare? I already bought a teardrop, but if one design is bleached whiter than the other, I'll most likely order a Caballero from him as well.

I just don't want two panamas of identical weave quality with the same colouration, is all.

Most of the Cuenca made Panama's are bleached white while the Montecristi's are not bleached. You might try asking Robert to pick two of different shades if possible, but generally they tend to be this way. As you go up in grades of Panama's you have more choice in the shading as they are better woven and the higher grades use better straw. But I now have 8 Panama's, 3 Cuencas and 5 Monticristi and don't mind the similarity of color. If you want difference, get one of the dyed hats or stick to felt. A Panama is generally thought of as a white hat with a black hatband. :)
